Question about 1992 Geo Tracker

92 geo will not start

Have good spark and fuel pressure, and have had the injector serviced and checked. have replaced the relay , but htere is a constant clicking noise from that relay, down by the computor, and it only stops when cranking the motor over

Try to test the crank position sensor ,thats what they do when they go bad.

92 volvo 960 no injector pulse how to fix and no power to the fuse block for 30 & 31 fuses for fuel system


check your PGMFI (Fuel Injection Main Relay) if it's good then check the Fuel Pump for power with a probe tester. what do fuses 30 & 31 operate? maybe there is a short and maybe it has to do with those 2 fuse lines working against each other or maybe they are bumping heads with the injectors electrical wiring. my first advice is to check the fuel injection main relay and the fuel pump first.

What will cause a 1990 geo storm sohc to run rough or not start? Changed, plugs, wires,cap, rotor?


Except for the ignition coil, that about takes care of the secondary ignition system. You should check to see if you have a good strong blue spark at one of the spark plug wires. If no spark, check the coil and the crank position sensor for one place to start, also the ignition control module. If you do have spark, the ignition should be good, and then you could concentrate elsewhere.
If there is a schrader valve on top of the engine-a fuel pressure test port-it would be easy to check fuel pressure. Autozone and others loan a fuel pressure tester. Possibly, a 1990 Storm may require a temporary "tee fitting" in the fuel line somewhere to test pressure. Look for the test port- it may have a cap that unscrews. It would be located in the fuel rail or the line to the injectors.

Beyond that, other problems could be dirty injectors, a malfunctioning EGR valve, a large intake manifold gasket leak, or worst case, a mechanical internal problem. If it gets to that, perform a compression test. If you have good compression in all cylinders, it should be good internally.

Could be difernt pcms, check the pins at the connections and make sure you have the same amount of pins..

first of all its spelled "fuel" lol, but you should start by checking the relay to the fuel pump and check the injectors/fuel filer, if everything is flowing fine all the way to the engine then you can also check the fuel pressure regulator, if theres are no fuel related problems then it is either your distributor cap/spark plug wires/ or the spark plugs themselves

92 geo tracker wont start replaced gas pump fuel injector relays i can soray starter fluid in the carb and it will start right up but wont run


CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE.AND CHECK IGNITION TIMING ALSO SCAN IT TO MAKE PCM IS GOOD.FUEL PUMP WONT TURN ON IF PCM OR ECM FAULTY.

Is it possible that the computer on my 92 geo tracker is what's keeping it from starting???? will the engine turn but no strat????


turn the key to acc mode and if the check engine light is on then the computer is working. check for spark. listen for the fuel pump to turn on its in the back passenger side if both those work and you didnt mess with distributor plugs rotor or cap then you may have to bypass it. or the fuel injector could be clogged. take off the metal air intake to get to the fuel injector and pour a little gas directaly in and see if it starts. if fuel pump spark and pouring gas into were the fuel injector is then it might be a bad fuel injector or it needs to be bypassed.

you need a noid lite to test injectors also its possiable you may have bad igition module even though you have spark

There are several problems that can cause this behavior, Is it cold where you are? If so the geo's have a known issue with starting in cold weather.

If not then here is a list of possible issues

1.) Cracked or damaged ignition coil and/or primary wire.
2.) Fuel Pump.
3.) Clogged fuel injectors (Engine will run rough when it does run if this is the case)
4.) Badly worn spark plugs, Spark Plug wires, Distributor cap and/or rotor.

*** WARNING *** Your ignition system contains dangerous voltage levels that could seriously injure or kill anyone coming into contact with the spark. Be sure to use insulated pliers or a spark tester and follow the instructions. Failure to do so could cause serious injury or death.

Tests to confirm:
1.) Purchase a spark tester from your local auto parts store, Connect a spark plug wire to the tester and connect the tester as described in its documentation, Have a friend crank your engine and watch for a bright blue spark, The spark should happen frequently and with a rythm, If it seems to skip alot proceed to test #4. If you dont see a spark at all the ignition coil is to blame, Even if you do see a spark, It should be bright blue and clearly visible in daylight, If it is then your ignition coil is doing its job.

2.) Get a pressure gague and hook it up to the fuel line, Turn the key off and on several times (Dont start the engine) if the pressure doesn't rise when the key is turned to on, Your fuel pump may be faulty, Even if it does rise it should reach 15 PSI, If it doesnt then replace the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.
3.) You would have to remove the injectors. I recommend you have a mechanic check to see if this is the problem.
4.) Remove the distributor cap and check the rotor for carbon tracking (A black line on the end that touches the cap) if you see that, Replace the cap and rotor and try test #1 again. If the rotor and cap are in good condition, reinstall them.

That is false information. The dipstick reads 2 (TWO) quarts.
