96 Taurus, V6, GL: washer pump motor will not run. I had intermittent issues before, then it failed. I replaced the pump, replaced relay, fuses ok. Washer pump worked 3 times then failed. Is it a bad switch on the steering column Multifunction stalk?

Re: 96 taurus, washer pump motor will not run.
It is most likely another faulty pump motor. They never were anygood to start with. If you are buying aftermarket then try an OEM. If you had a testlight you could unplug the terminals from the pump and use you testlight there to see if it is getting voltage with the switch on or if you don't have a testlight, you could unplug the pump and run two wires from ground and a close 12 volt wire that you know of to the pump and see if it runs. If not then it is the pump. If it does run then it is the switch.

I have a 1993 Taurus GL V6 3.0L..I"am experiencing a loss of power. Hesitates on acceleration Only when It's cold. When is get hot it runs very good. I have Replace Spark Plugs Cap & rotor were change air filter & fuel filter & TPS/EGR..... & it has a rebuilt ENG in it...this could be a sensor. But which one could it Be?
I have a 1996 Ford Taurus with a similar malfunction the intermittent wiper function is erratic, but the wipers park properly. I'm the original owner & this malfunction was in the car from the factory. I have a regular Ford Dealership manual & came to the conclusion that the Generic Electronic Module located behind the fuse panel is bad (computer glitch in programming) ! Ford Dealers want over $ 300.00 for a brand new module, I haven't checked with my local used auto parts recycler yet, but I know it will be less than the dealer price !
The circuit is expanding in hot wheather to the point where it is broken. In cold whether circuits and circuit boards contract slightly, reconnecting a weak solder point. Do you have an intermittant check engine light? Is it constantly on? If so new problems can arise, but the check engine light will not tell you about any new issues, it simply remains on. Get it diagnosed at any shop with any OBD2 interface to diagnose your cars specific issues. If not, just save time and replace the starter. It's probably different from engine to engine...you either have a 3.0 liter vulcan V6 or the zoomier 24 valve V6. Call the parts counter at any ford dealer and say the right things and the parts guy may tip you off on known issues. I had a 96 24v..it was a pile.
