Question about 1997 Isuzu Rodeo

3 Answers

Isuzu rodeo lost DC electric power.

Today ,i tried to start it... it was not cranking and all the lights in the dash, chassis, tailgate and indicator lights go on and off for few times and they stop. i mean literally all the lights the radio, the transmission indicator lights, all my chassis. What could the reason be? thanks.

Great post, NO CRANKS.!
one of the rare that manage that fact.
if the lamps dim that means the battery voltage is low. (here)
or you have bad wiring connections
or battery is dead. (weak, discharged or bad)
forget the dash deal.
focus on starter and battery! and starting engine.
99% of these fails, are just rusty battery terminals, clean them. (do so often, say every year?)
then try jumper cables starts, of that works ?then battery is
bad, weak, not charged.
a charged battery reads 12.6vdc rested (or more)
a charging battery engine running 800rpm or more.
is 13.3v to 15v, if lower, the charge system has failed.

that is true , all 4 ends of both battery cables must be tight
and clean, usually the lower ends are, if not fiddled with by grimlins.
do not mess with the starter lug bolts unless you pull battery neg first. or BOOM eat flying acid time.
if all this is greek, get it serviced. (tow it there)

    power failures 101.
it is not IMMOimbiler, not at all.
I think the above fails to say HL are dead
or dim.... and is KEY to why , BIG TIME !!!!!
    head lights = HL

terminals rusty on top battery lugs.
    or battery weak,
batteries can go bad, or just discharge.
they can discharge for many reasons even good batteries can do this....

1: head light or something left on. parked.
2: change system dead. Charge/batt lamp glows running?
3: phantom drains, as you sleep the battery drains flat.
there are simple tests for each cause.

the starter uses 20x more current than the head lights.
that takes clean battery lugs. to make that happen. and a charged battery.
    2 things....
try another known good working battery?
or jumper cable start it yet (clean lugs first)
    bingo, i bet.

The engine has no power

  • what does NO power mean.
  • no electrical power at all (clean battery terminals , charge it)
  • no dash lights? warnings all glow key on.
  • no cranking ?
  • or engine is weak on hills.
  • we can not guess this.

Cranking & Idle issue 92 Isuzu Rodeo

could be many things. Could be choke causing problems, could be engine temperature sendor bad, could be EGR. When you mean engine light comes on do you mean service engine light coming on? Probably has codes set which means something is gone wrong and setting a code that tells the tech what is wrong or what to look for. Have you changed your fuel filter lately?

Anti theft dash light is blinking on my 1998 rodeo and will not start now. Tried unhooking battery to reset, but no luck. Will not crank from jumping off either. Battery is good, all lights and the radio...

I'm assuming its an original alarm or system that came from factory or dealer. When the light blinks is because the alarm is activated. Look underneath the radio the alarm brain might be there. There will be a label on it saying alarm or security system etc. Disconnect the harness to it and try operating your vehicle.
