Question about 1996 Jaguar Vanden Plas

1 Answer

Parked car of a week, came home dead battery

Now every time i don't drive it everyday, they battery is drained.

Also having ignition problems, could the two issue be connected?

It also seems to want to cut off when slowing for stop lights (could this be a idle speed problem).

I have a 2013 Chevy Tahoe with an unexplained battery drain, what could it be? help please

You could have a parasitic drain. Something that is left on in the car and drains the battery. It could also be a corroded terminal on the battery where the alternator is not getting power to charge the battery . Clean the post and the connector of all deposits and install those felt washers under the terminals to impede further corrosion.

Sould I replace the ignition switch, and how do I do it?

Look at the light switch. Sometimes it will turn on the headlites by itself and drain the battery.

My 2012 hyundai sonata battery will drain dead after 2 days when I don't start it, what could be the problem? I have to jump start it and if I drive it everyday its fine.

it can be a number of problems one can be you have something is staying on it can be a light in the boot, you alarm is wired wrong or a radio is not off or it can be the battery no good. By jumping the car with a jumper leads can damage the battery, or you alternator is not charging good. First to check your alternator you will need a volt meter and place the negative from your meter to the negative of the batter and the positive to the positive and start your car. If the reading is 14.3 V to 14.8 V your alternator is good than the problem it can be any of the other things that I indicated

Hi Ed, Its always a good idea to run the engine while using any high demand accessory. You may like to have your battery and charge rate checked, but I believe just running the engine will solve the problem for you. Connect everything first, start the engine and then turn on the pump. Regards John

The battery wont hold a charge. the battery is completly dead after a very short period of time

Does the battery go dead while sitting or while driving? You may have a draw problem where something is draining the battery while parked, or you may have a charging problem, or you may have a bad battery, depending on how it goes dead.

The 12 volt battery(LUCAS 065/3) on my FORD FIESTA 1100cc is 4 years old, in that time i have only driven 1,600 miles as my journeys are usually very local. I make sure i use the car twice a week to keep...

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips -  so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.

My park ave has an ele, problem, runs the battery down after its sits all nite

You most likely have a "dead short" this means that you have a wire touching the metal of the car and draining the battery. If you are not. or do not want to spend hours tracing the problelm, then take the car to a repair shop and have then trace the short. This will be well worth the money spent.

Let me know what you find out.

The car is a 1992 cadillac deville you can drive the car fine but when you go home and don't drive the car for a few days the battery goes dead and you haft to charge the battery and then the car works...

It doesn't have a short. Shorts blow fuses. It has high parasitic drain. On a cad it might be hard to find but not impossible. Do you own an ammeter?
