Question about 1994 Nissan Maxima
In the last few days when starting my car sometimes it will kick over but other times it will not. The times when I turn the ignition key and it doesn't turn over there is no sound but there is power to the lights and dash. The battery is about 3.5 -4 years old but doesn't seem to be the problem.
When the weather is cold. below 40 degrees F when the car starts in the past there is always a loud screech. This has been going on for years and still displays this noise.
I have had one AAA service call when it wouldn't start. The service person used a stick to press on the starter morter and with me turning the ignition and giving it gas it did start. He said it is definitely the starter.
If we rule out the battery my question is could it be anything other then the starter? Could it be the solenod? Today I started it 3 times in my driveway and it starts fine each time but I didn't drive it some where and let it cool off.
Your help is appreciated. If you think it is the starter what shoud I be paying for a starter if I don't go for a Nissan part? Solenod?
Thanks and Happy Holidays
Do you have a load tester for a battery? if not get a load test done while your at it have it tested to see how many "cranking amps" Mr starter is using you will find your long, longed for answers!!at this point.
