Re: HELP PLEASE!! 94 jetta III. failed for hcppm.
This means that the engine is not burning all the fuel, so it would be best and most economical to take the car to your local decent mecanic and ask for a tune up to lower the emmisions. If you have the result sheet take this with you.

The 2002 service manual says replace stretched bolts. stage I: 30 ft-lb (40Nm) stage II: additional 1/4 turn, stage III: another 1/4 turn. Start in center, work your way out diagonally back and forth (crossways) ending on the ends of the block. Do this sequence on each stage.
Wow the kms are getting up there! Make sure that the spark plugs are not worn and the gaps are correct. Check the air filter for dust and clogged up with oil etc.Only clean with compressed air, blowing in reverse to dislodge the dust.If too dusty or is an oily dirt, replace the air filter. Has the oil has been replaced in the last 10,000km.If not change it. Put a quality fuel cleaner in the fuel tank prior to filling up. Check that the thermostat runs the engine in the correct area on the temp gauge.too cold will cause the injectors to supply a richer mix. Clean the PCV(positive crankcase ventilator)valve. Perhaps clean the air mass?flow meter with a cleaner like CRC sensor or MAF cleaner.(it is the unit near the air cleaner housing that has a multiwire plug on it)If not there, clean the throttle body with a good carby cleaner. Some worn engines put out a better test when warm, not cold or too long running. Don't leave it idling for a long time while in test queue, shut it down and wait your turn. I hope this helps you pass.
the driver information center(DIC) is telling you one or more of your rear light bulbs has failed. it could be a tail light, stop light, center high mount stop light, turn signal or license plate light. have someone in the vehicle turn the lights on and hit the brakes and turn signals so you can see which one is burned out.
