Question about 2003 Ford F350 Super Duty DRW SuperCab

1 Answer

I have a 2003 f350 with 6.0. Truck ran fine this afternoon. I drove to the store, shut it off went in, and when I came out, it would not crank. All dash lights come on, fuel pump runs everything, just will not crank. I jumped across the starter and it started. I was driving it home and it now will not shift, the tow/haul button does not work and the odometer shows all 8's. Any suggestions?

I would recommend that you check chaise ground strap connection, as well as all connections in and out of the power distribution center Could even be a bad fuse in the power distribution panel. I dealt with a problem like this not to long ago it turned out to be a loose connection feeding the power distribution panel.

Truck cranks but wont start

When it stops check the fuel pressure. Also check for fault codes as this maybe ignition related as well.

Do you hear the pump come on briefly with key in run, not start? You should check fuel pressure-some parts stores rent a fuel pressure tester for small fee. Or try this: spray some starting fluid into the air intake when trying to start. If it starts and runs a few seconds, you know you have a fueling problem- pump or injectors or something with the fuel.
Always check for trouble codes with a no start. If checking for spark and have no spark to the plugs, then it could be the crank position sensor. That sensor is crucial for the computer to figure spark timing. But if no spark, it could be other things as well, like the cam position sensor, ignition control module, or a problem in the circuits for all these. The crank sensor is just an educated guess for no spark-not a certainty.
Since it won't run, you can't go to have the computer scanned for free at a parts store-do you have any friends or relatives with an OBD-2 hand held scanner? Just to check for any trouble codes, but do check for fuel and spark.

Truck is draining charge and not charging battiers

I just went thru same thing with my 2003 f-350 diesel. I hooked up my horse Trailor and drove to Von's parked went in came back out and truck was dead. I tried to jump it didn't work. Then over next two hours two tow truck Drivers hooked up to both batteries full power charge direct to my truck and would not start.
End story required two new batteries alternator and cilanoid discussed above. In other post. Also contributing to the cause was really badly coroded cables they looked good at the connection point but wher discovered to be coroded inside the tubing just above the end connections so bow it has all been replaced and I have had no trouble since. Hope this helps. Tanya
