Holly four barrle carb for 460 cu in 1986 Ford econoline 350

The motor home sat for 5 years and when I drive it it will not go faster than 45 mph. What will cause this problem?

IT is a Holley 4-barrel carburaetor that he's reffering to.

You are correct, there is a float inside a holley 4 barrel fuel bowl.
Is the electric fuel pump regulated? If the fuel pressure is above 8 lbs, you could run into this issue or the float / needle / seat could have a problem or miss adjusted.

By the way, a 2007 GMC is not carbureted so I assume this is not the vehicle or it has been modified.

Either the gauge is bad, the cable is kinked or the speedometer connector is bad...at the tranny.

86 ford 460 cu. in. Ford w/ Holly four barrle carborator secondary

On most models, the secondary barrels would only work if the primary are in wide open position, and even then the range of opening is small.
The engine should run past 3000 RPM on just the front barrels, so you may have something else going on.

I have a1988 ford econoline 350 with a 460. Runs great at an idel. when I get it uo to 30 mph is dies. Back off gas it runs again.

Sounds like your catalytic converter is no good, its part of your exhaust system.

It is possible you need a fuel pump or carb could be all gumed up from sitting around

If you have the fuel injected 460 with tfi module on the distributor have it replaced[ I did after replacing all my fuel pumps,plugs and wires].All you need to do is have it replaced $50 part half hour labor

Ilp have an 87 F350 with a 460 and a manual trany

Did you drain the old fuel out of the tanks? Old fuel will not fire most times it goes bad and mosture accumulates. Next question for you are you getting and spark?

Ford 460 with a Holly 750 bogs out at 40 mph then stalls when i stop and wont start again for several minutes. There's no diagnostic plug. This is in an f350 2wd dually. This started on the expressway....

has it back fired any time in the past? if so you might have a blown power valve. this is very common with hollys
