If you have already replaced the fuel filter, the next thing to check is the fuel pressure. GM vortec engines require 60psi or more of fuel pressure to run.
how do i check the fuel pressure?
You would get a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up to the valve on the fuel line at the intake manifold if it has one.
The valve usually looks like a tire valve.

Check catalytic converter, could be so clogged it is not allowing exhaust through. Or Fuel Filter since you have done other in between items, should be frame mounted under drivers seat, (on the outside of the vehicle looking up) small silver can size filter between two lines. $10+ and it should be changed every 30000 or so.

sounds like a fuel pump problem, one of the times it will not turn over attach a fuel pressure gage to the valve on the fuel line, see if its getting fuel, also if its a cpi injector those go bad all the time as the plastic tubes clog up from heat

I wouldn't think it to be a fuel delivery problem anymore. If you could get someone to scan it while the problem occurs maybe you could see if your TPS is dropping out due to a faulty sensor or connector, also you could check for a blocked cat convertor by hooking up a vacuum gauge to the engine or a pressure gauge to the exhaust at 1500rpms should be no more than 1 to 1 1/2 pounds back pressure. Also you could check your magnetic pole piece that is under the rotor in your distributor they are known for the magnet cracking at the rivets.

Change fuel filter, located on most trucks on frame rail back by gas tank.(under truck)
