Rear door window dropped into the door

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is there any trick to removing the door panels in this vehicle?  Id like to grab a regulator from the dealer and do it myself as I have done in the past.

I am having the expact same problem. So far I have had to remove the entire door panel, which required a phillips head as well as a star headed driver, then unhook the latch, remove stereo speaker take the three bolts out of the door, and four smaller bolts on the motor that connects to the pulley system. I appears my pulley cables are ruined so I would like to know how to repair those...

This is the second one for me. The first one was the drivers side window about a year ago. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it for free. However, my warranty is now gone so Im going to do it myself. So you havent seen any expansion tabs or the like? Its all phillips and star?

The pulley system is the regulator system. If the pulleys are worn, which is quite common, they will need to be replaced. You can get regulator kits on the web or at a dealer (if you want to pay an arm and a leg).

On my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8, the driver door control for the rear passenger side window does not work up or down, but the window control on the rear passenger side door works to make the window go...

Check wiring harness in between door and body, most likley there is a broken wire in this harness.
To get the window up you will need to remove the panel and apply a power and ground direcly to the moter connector. if it does not go up then reverse the polarity

Power windows don't work on all 4 doors and power lock doesn't work on the driver door. 2004 jeep grand cherokee

On the driver side, the window/door lock module has the power lead either pulling away from the connection or has broke entirely. Another common cause is the wire harness between the door jam, this is the area that has a rubber boot covering the wires and from opening and closing the door, it creates a broken or loose connection over time. Open the driver side door, grab the rubber boot that the wires run thru, and move it around. Some times this will help create the connection and restore the power. If not, the door panel will need to be removed to inspect the wire connections.

Rear hatch will not unlock

When the latch mechanism screws come loose the door will not open with the key or electric door lock. From inside the bagage compartment you will have to remove the rear plastic panels (which you can't do because some of the screws are now inaccessable!) The trick is to remove as many screws as you can. A couple of screws are hidden under the carpet trim of the rear door panel-towards the corners, feel around for the holes. Now pry away the top of the plastic panel just below the rear window in the center- the plastic will bow out enough to get an arm in. The plastic can be sharp so wear a thin long sleeve shirt. reach down and feel 5 inches to the right of center. there is a rod that unlatches the door. you can grab a flashlight and have an assitant lift up the rear hatch lever while you look down at the lock mechanism- you will see or feel the rod move. pull up on this rod. With the door now open you can continue taking off the rear trim cover and fix the latch problem.

How do you remove the driver side door panel on a 2004 Jeep Cherokee.

- Remove trim plug from mirror flag bezel.
- Remove screws attaching trim panel to door
- Using a trim remover, detach trim panel perimeter push-in fasteners from door trim panel
- Lift trim panel upward and separate from door.
- If equipped, disconnect harness connectors for power accesories.
- Disconnect latch rods from inside handle actuator
- Finally, separate trim panel from vehicle.

I suggest check all information in the WJ Repair Manual Section 23 Body with graphics and other details.

Good luck (remember rated this help).

2004 jeep grand cherokee, how does the inner door pannels come off? Is it like the older model where they pop off. don't want to break it off. Jim

there are a few screws that you ned to remove first before you pop it off. one is inside the inner door hande (what you grab to close the door), one is behind the inner door latch release (what you pull to open the door from the inside, and one is on the very top of door panel near the A-pillar.
