Question about 1991 Nissan Pickup
I have a 1991 Nissan D21 (pickup). It is in excellent running condition. I have only had it for the last 5 years and do not know how well the previous owner took care of her. I want to do the recommended maintenance on it before I have problems. Since it is old and has a lot of miles on it, what is important for me to check/change? It got a new transmission 5 years ago. I do regular oil changes and I just did a tune up. It has 192,000 miles on it. Thanks.
Ok, I have a l987 Nissan D 21 with 276,000 on the Odo. This is what I have done:
At each 100 k I replaced all the rubber hoses and vac lines.
Every 30 k I substitue a quart of Slic 50 for 10-40 at the oil change
* The container says 50 k, so even if I am late, I am under the number.
Every 3 k Oil change, fiters and lube.
I add Chevron gear armor to the trans and the rear end About every third replacement of fluids.
If the "no lube" fittings are still on your truck, replace them with new zert fittings so it can be lubed.
Rotate the tires every 6k. I have been using Yokohama Avids on both my truck and my Honda with great ride and wear results.
I replace the fuel filter about every 60 k, and I finally replaced the gas cap.
I still get 22 mpg, no leaks, orig trans. 3rd or 4 th clutch. Ok, I finally had it painted for the 21st anniversary.
Purchased new in 87 for 2995. Bare bones, no radio, antenna, air, or bumper.
Still get offers all the time for 1500. Maybe after it hits 300K.
