I have a 1998 dodge neon sohc 2.0 it runs fine but ive discovered oil or a tan **** in the radiator and my oil light seems to come on all the time even though its full of oil whats wrong?
SOURCE: need to put antifreeze in
The drain plug is at the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side. I see no reason to drain it all out unless you just want to change it. If you do our Neons take the orange radiator fluid Havoline "Dex-Cool" invented by Havoline. It has a very bad taste added to it to protect children and pets. I changed it at 74000 in my wife's 2003 Neon SXT using a 50/50 mix of Dex-Cool and distilled water to avoid any scaling residue.
Our Neons cannot use any other type as it will ruin the internals of your engine the coolant comes into contact with.
The anti freeze is to be changed at 100,000 miles. If your coolant reservoir tank (located in the engine compartment on the drivers side just under the windshield large white plastic bottle) is always filling up over time and spilling over you may need a new radiator cap.
The radiator cap lets some of the coolant out in to the reservoir tank as you drive and the coolant expands due to heat. When your radiator cools off a vacuum is created inside of your radiator at that time your radiator cap is to open it's valve and **** the coolant from the reservoir tank back into the radiator via the small hose that leads from just under your radiator cap to the reservoir tank.
Make sure the hose leading from just under your radiator cap to the reservoir tank has a tight seal at both ends as well as no leaks.
If your cap is not operating properly it will just keep letting coolant out and not letting the radiator **** it back in resulting low coolant level in the radiator.

I'm not possitive but there is usually a vent tube on top of the transmission, may be possible that dirt or something is clogging it up. That would cause the tranny to build up pressure. But to blow the seal on a new radiator, I wouldn't imagine that. My opinion would be that the new radiator wasn't put together correctly. But just in case the vent tube did cause it to let go, check the vent. I hope that you find the problem. Best wishes.

i have a 2003 dodge neon and mine does the same thing and i had the oil changed by the dealer, its full of oil as well, they put just a tad over in it and the light comes on and blinks for second then goes off and the only thing i do is let the oil go out on its own and get to the level its supose to be and once it gets to that it will stop, well it should but if you want to be sure have it checked out. i hope this helps you out, let me know if it does.

First, the easy way is to just bypass the relays all together. Install a switch on the inside of the car like you would fog lights. This will solve the problem of replacing thing after thing and wasting money. Just a $7.00 fix. After doing that unplug all the sensors and then the battery for at least 60 second to reset the computer. Than restart the car and the check engine light should go out, may take a day or so. Same thing with your gas cap, re-securing it will take a day or so for the light to go out. Good luck. I love my '97 neon.

you have to get scanned for fault codes..possible camshaft sensor if you have starting issues..if car is working fine, could be an evap leak..let me know
