Wiper Blades Stop

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty. When I turn my wiper blades on the will run fine in the up swing, but on the down swing they either stop or go verrrrrry slowwwwwwwly back to the down position. Could this be the motor problem?

Before you go out and buy a new wiper motor try checking the fuse for the windshield wipers.

Check that and let me know and if it was not the problem I will help you the best I can.

loosen the nut at the bottom of the blades so that the wiper motor will work without moving the blades. cycle the wipers and allow the motor to come to the rest position. Fit the blades and tension the nut. Pull the arms off the windscreen and cycle the wiper motor to run until it stops put the wipers back on the screen and see where they are. IF parked properly then OK but if any where then replace the wiper motor as the sequencing gear inside is out of sync with the wiper action.

Wiper arm on driver side swings over off windshield, both arms do not drop,or pulldown into the stops when shut off,all three speeds do work.

This is a common problem with GM wipers it is the wiper transmission parking lever. What happens is it gets worn out and then it will not catch the stop so it ends up not parking in the down position keeping your blades up when turned off. These are located on top of the wiper motor and you can get them from almost any parts store usually areound 75$. i hope this helps.

I cant figure out how to change my windshield wiper blades on 2001 ford ranger

How to Replace Wiper Blades Guide (Typical):
Potential tools needed to replace wiper blades:
  • Flat blade screwdriver (small)
  • Small nosed pliers
  • Latex or vinyl gloves
  • Safety goggles
To replace wiper blades theactual action of replacing the blade is no big deal, it's the locationof the blade down below the hood that can make it difficult though.Sometimes it helps to open the hood to gain access to the wiper blades.Other times it is helpful if the wiper blade is somewhere in the motionline of wiper action. The trick is to get the wiper to stop somewherein the wiper arc. Turn the wipers to the on position and allow thewipers to start, and then shut the key off when the wiper has arrivedin a desirable position on the windshield. To replace your wiper bladesplease follow the step by step instruction below. Also, watch the How to replace wiper blades video below to gain additional information. The method in which the wiper blades are attached will vary slightly.
  • Step 1: With the hood closed, turn the wiperson, when the wipers are in the middle of their arc turn the key to theoff position. (Note: if this can't be done because of wiper conditionand you want to avoid scratching the windshield please open your hoodto gain access)
  • Step 2: Locate the mounting clips at the top pivot on the wiper blade
  • Step 3: Release the clip and remove the wiper arm
  • Step 4: Match the size of the old blade against the new blade to ensure proper fit and operation
  • Step 5: Reinstall the new wiper blade and recheck wiper operation

Common Problems:
  • Make sure the wiper blades are the same size as the original blades.
  • When replacing wiper blades not getting the blade onthe mounting pin completely allowing the wiper arm to become dislodgedand possibly causing damage to the windshield.
  • Using wiper blades after the blade has failed permanently damaging the windshield by craving scratches in the wiper arc.
  • Wiper blade can create a chattering noise when theblade is not properly balanced allowing the blade to "flop" back andforth as the wiper direction changes.

I hope help you with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.

Wiper blades ''sticking''

It sounds more like its actually in the control. My mother in laws car oes the same thing and I have isolated it to the wiper control. The bad news is, if indeed it is that part, then you will have to replace the whole assembly.

remove wiper arms at the shaft, right at the cowl. each will have a nut on them but it is covered by a piece of plastic that will snap up for access. take nuts off and remove wiper assembly. turn key on turn wipers on make sure shafts turn when on, then turn off the shafts to stop in park position. then reinstall wiper assemblies in their park position .
