There is normally no way you can turn it on or off. It is automatically managed by the coputer and it will normally tell you when the engine is running on a lean mode or not.
Try to test the car on a straight flat road @ 80Kms/hr with very constant slight acceleration and see whether the light comes on. If not then you might have the light bulb on the dash blown.
Cheers.

Well, it may be funny but we managed to turn ON the light by running into a tree! The front tire blew out at 80km per hour and we went off the road into a tree. We never saw the light on before so we were actually worried when we saw the light, but we see that the problem for most people is that the light does not come on, so if anyone has problems with the light not coming on, try running into a tree..it worked for us! (We only recommend this method if you have bull bars and are wearing seatbelts! )

I have a 2002 subaru impreza type euro automatic/tiptronic and have just noticed a flashing green "power" light on the dash. Any ideas what is the problem. Cheers, Tim

hi the autos have a power and economy mode which is selected by pressing a button near the trans shifter, the power makes the car more responsive for passing etc and the economy is meant to be a smoother drive that saves fuel, its not really a prob its just telling you what mode its in hope this helps

I have a mitsubishi lancer cedia model 2000 frequent stall when driving i switch it off and on again in the ignition and come to live again for a few miles and does the same again what could be the cause

If you have the GDI model, they were designed to run on very lean air/fuel ratio.
Once the mileage is up a bit a lot of problems can be traced back to a high carbon build up in the intake manifold.

Poor gas mileage

Well,

I would start with a tune up, Spark plugs , wires , new fuel filter. Then check fuel mileage . The tires believe it or not have to have correct air priessure , This also is a factor in fuel economy.
If the fuel ecomony does not get better then you should have the fuel system check. The fuel pump could be weak pressure or a throttle body cleaning service should be performed.
The next step after this would be the fuel injector replacement. Now your are talking a investing a few bucks into the car. The most cost effective is to start with a tune up and fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank, You can pick up the parts at your local auto parts store.
