Nothing wrong ignore and stop worrying, change oil every 6000miles and use cheapest from supermarket, change oil filter every third oil change to save money and pollution of the disposal of old oil filter. If you worried about high pressure then stop beleaving the adverts for synthetic oil and putting in oil thickening agents like slick or duckhams. You could get the sender units changes for the oil pressure but just go for a burn and enjoy and stop worrying its only a car when all is said and done

Oil pressure so high at pump it blows out oil filter gasket and sprays all over.

This rarely occurs, and when it does, it usually occurs because of a "double gasket" condition. That is where the old filter gasket remains stuck to the block and the new filter is screwed onto it, resulting in a double thick gasket that is not capable of handling the pressure. Many times these leak from the outset, but if not, they fail soon after.

How often do i change the oil on a mercury mountaineer 2005?

It depends on how many miles you drive annually, the environment your vehicle is driven in (dusty, hot, cold, humid, dry, etc), the type of oil you use (conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic), and the condition of your car's engine. You should consult your owner's manual and the data on your engine oil.

I drive a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer 5,0L and drive it about 1,500 miles annually. I use a synthetic blend oil and change my oil and oil filter twice a year. I change the oil in the spring so I have fresh oil for the hot summer driving season and I change my truck's oil in the fall after the hot summer driving season. Because my Mountaineer has a lot of miles on it, I use thinner oil in the winter 5/20 and thicker oil in the summer 10/20. I check my oil regularly and look at the color and feel the oil for grit. This has worked for me for many years and I have had good performance from my vehicles.

You can go on the different oil manufacture's websites and read their recommendations as well. There has been much debate about when to change the oil in a vehicle so you have to decide for yourself what schedule you want to follow.

My isuzu rodeo marks low oil pressure and also the gauge is low

Welcome to Fixya

Check the oil filter. A clogged oil filter can be the cause of low oil pressure. When the oil leaves the pump, it passes through the filter before going on to the bearings and oil galleys. Filters create a certain amount of resistance to flow that increases with the rate of flow. But as the filter becomes clogged with debris, the restriction created increases. It will reached to the point that there were no oil will pass through the filter element. To prevent such a blockage, a pressure relief valve located in the filter or where the filter mounts to the block is designed to open if the pressure differential across the filter exceeds a preset value (typically 5 to 40 psi). This allows the oil to bypass the filter and keep on flowing. But the engine's oil pressure will be reduced to that of the bypass valve. Replacing the filter should solve the problem.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Oil light comes on intermitently. Oil & filter last changed 2,500 miles ago. Oil level is full and clean. Where is the oil pressure sensor/switch?

if you change oil every 2,500 miles , maybe is a oil pump failure, if not , then remove engine oil pan and clean oil pump strainer, use good quality oil

MY CAR HAS LOW OIL PRESSURE, BUT WE DON'T HEAR ANY BEARINGS OR ENGINE KNOCKS. WE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACES 3-1/2 YEARS AGO WITH A JASPER ENGINE. HAVE REPLACED THE OIL PUMP, ALSO. WHAT DO YOU THINK COULD...

THAT IS TOO BAD THE WARRANTEE ONLY LASTS FOR 3 YRS WITH 100,000 MILES ON PARTS AND LABOR, YOU ARE OVER IN TIME BY 6 MONTHS.
sorry caps:
Before you condemn the engine remove the oil pressure switch and screw in a hand held mechanical oil pressure gauge just to verify your pressure readings.
How old is the oil and what weight are you using in it?
Is the iol level full and how often do you change it...I recommend every 2500-3000 miles oil and filter.
What type of filter is being used is it a purolator or any name brand?
try raising the viscosity perhaps to a high detergent 10 w 40 weight and see if anything changesDid you use the old oil pump from the old engine? If so its possible its worn and should be replaced soon, also did you use the old pick up tube and screen, if so was it cleaned out real good.
No knocks etc. is almost an indication of a false oil pressure gauge reading, ior the oil pump is starting to develope wear in its gear/housing clearances, what was the oil pressure just prior to what you have noticed lately.

The oil warning light comes on and the truck want run then and it has great oil pressure and full of oil to,

Replace the oil pressure switch on the engine. They do go bad. also the switch is used to run current to the fuel pump upon starting everytime. When the oil pressure reaches normal pressure the computer shuts it off and the sends a signal to the fuel pump relay to take over running the fuel pump
This oil switch has three wires attached to it

At how many miles do I need a tune up?

It depends on the engine you have. If you do not have a 100,000 mile sparkplug then replace plugs every 40,000 to 50,000 miles. Or at 2 to 3 year intervals whichever comes first.

Other maintenence requires shorter times. Oil changes and filters 3000 to 5000 miles. Air filters about 12,000 miles. If you have a distributor cap and rotor about 30,000 to 40,000 miles depending on wear.
Check antifreeze strength, change antifreeze every 3 years. Always have axles and wheel bearings checked at least every 24,000 miles. Lube door hinges annually, hood release, trunklid hinges, etc.
