1998 dodge ram v6 stop running hasnt missed a beat i replace cap and rotor it runs good for a hour now its missing and code reader say p0302 looked it up says missing on number 2 help

Bucking and missing engine

2004 Silverado 4.3 V6 Has miss on cylinders 2 and 4. Have done complete tune up Plugs Wires Cap Rotor,Fuel Filter. Still had Miss. Compression on all 6 within 8 lbs of each other. lowest reading 168...

Check engine light on? Any codes? Missed before and after the cap was changed? Or is the cap new so you assume its good. I have had caps bad out of the box.

1998 chevrolet k1500 4wd. 5.0 liter.truck runs fine untill putting load on it.Pulling trailer uphill on long grade it starts to shake and miss.If you stay in throttle long enough service engine soon light...

Your ignitoin module may not be able to handle the work load anymore. If it gets hot, it will miss. You'll need to replace it. If you do a lot of towing, I suggest a performance unit from ACCEL or MSD

I have two codes that come up for my 2005 dodge

Multiple miss-fire and miss-fire on #5. I would first change the sparkplugs then replace the distributor cap and rotor. There is a good chance this will fix the problem, but no guarentees.

did you check for a touble code? there should be a diagnostic plug underneath your dash on your driver side. obtain a code reader that reads both obd I and II codes. with the '97 production there were rams made with 2 different systems. you can obtain touble codes by either plugging in an obd II code reader which was/is the updated method, or the older method of (with your key) turning the ignition on/off/on/off/on again and if a code is stored in the ecu memory, your check engine light will flash in a series. the number of flashes determines the code present. copy the number of flashes and look the values up in a trouble code manual. or find a website that features troble code definitions. if your truck is drivable, the cheap route is to go to autozone, or a similar auto parts store and ask an employee to plug in their code reader. they will do this for free. they should be able to pinpoint the problem if your ecu detected a malfunction. otherwise, did you perform a compression test? check all cylinders for good compression at least 100psi each. you can buy a tester at a parts store for about 25-30 bucks. when you installed your new cap and rotor did you check to make sure the rotor was seated properly and pointing in the right direction? ignition timing can be fouled up if you didnt mark the location of the old rotor and install the new one the exact same place. replaceing cap/rotor on the ram magnums are a ***** because you cant reach them easily. did you chack to see that the plug wires were install in the correct terminals? and again at the block??
