Question about 2005 Honda Civic

2005 Honda Civic will not start

My Honda will not start. I have lights, the starter will crank but the engine will not "catch". It is not out of gas . Any suggestions? It is a manual transmission also.

Wow! Why didn't I think of that? Yes it has key in it, yes it has an engine

I have a 2003 Honda Civic LX 1.7l engine, automatic. I have the same problem periodically. The first time it happened, I thought it was the fuel pump and I replace the pump. The next time it happened, I found that if I continue to crank the engine and pump the gas petal, it slowly starts. It happens intemittently. I'm guessing it's some kind of electical problem, but not sure how to solve it.

This may sound goofy, but get some help and try and push start it and see if it starts. I had this same problem and a new distributor (very expensive) was NOT the cause. After I push start mine it works fine for months at a time.

Honda civic crank position sensor

The first time the check engine light came on I was at approx 85K miles. Bought it to the dealership for diagnostic and they told me it was the catalytic converter. Can you send me information on how to replace it?

2005 honda civic replaced starter .it started right up for a couple of days now just cranks and won't start?

Tapping the starter is just a test, then you replace it as you did

So the starter issue is resolved

No check to see if you have fuel pressure at the motor
when you cycle the key

Also check for spark or injector pulse when cranking

If you have a relay for starter switch it with a similar one

Ran out of gas now it won't crank

when u say it won't crank do u mean the engine won't spin over with the starter? that is what no crank means to a mechanic. if this is not the case and the starter does work then the most probable cause is the fuel pump has seized up from lack of cooling (it is cooled by the gasoline it sits in) when you ran out of gas, to confirm this buy a can of starting fluid (avil from any auto parts store) and spray the fluid into the intake of the engine, if it starts you need a fuel pump, the pump is located inside the gas tank.

1991 honda civic si starting problem

have you check the ground wire from your negative wire to battery post? check to see the battery is strong. if it doesn't turn over the engine or crank the engine mean no good ground to the cables. if the car ran fine I dont understand why the car wont crank or turn the motor over it just quit. if the battery check out strong 12 V, starter serenoid may be faulty on your starter or it may be hot and will not turn starter over.

Car wont start

Does the engine sound different when it cranks? It might be a timing belt concern? Remove the oil cap and look for the camshaft.(you might need a flashlight).Have a partner crank the engine and watch the cam. If it stays still you have a bad timing belt.Let me know what you find.

Help civic wont start

it could be:
1)starter out of work
2)Air filter? Dirty? Clogged?
3)Moisture in disty?
4)Fuel Pump.
Did it make a whirring sound? If so it'de most likely be an electric sensor.
Is it cranking over faster than normal?
This could mean The timing belt is screwed or lack of compression.

Is it cranking over slow? if so then.......
1)Battery Charged? Corrosion on cables or connectors?
Hear any grinding or strange noises when cranking? This could mean the starters bad.
2) Possible Bad connection.

If its not cranking at all other possibilities are......
Bad Solenoid
Starter
Bad Starter Drive
Worn Ring gear
