Question about 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
Hi i own a 2002 chevy suburban 1500 my problem is that when i touch the button to turn on my 4x4 hi and then turn it back to 2hi it starts making a clicking sound like its trying to turn back to 2hi it will click back and forth and then click back to 4x4hi and will not engage my 2hi until i turn off the truck for a few hours and then it will turn back to 2hi please let me know what the problem is thank you... jerry.
The 4X4 is controlled by a electronic control module , without testing for codes an doing electrical test's would only be guessing ! Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop .

if it is push button then it is electrical problem if it is level operated its mechanical. im pretty sure there would be no vacuum lines involved here.. i really cant help because your not telling me if it makes any noise when trying to engage or anything like that

you may be confusing the torque converter clutch engagement with o.d. this trans has a problem with the T.C.C. regulator valve wearing out the valve body bore. this will cause the converter clutch to engage only sometimes or not at all. this will set a P1870 code in the control module. when this code is stored in the controller, ( check engine light may or may not be on), it increases the pressure in the transmission causing the 1-2 shift to be harsh. ask a local tranny shop to scan the vehicle ( most will do this for free) if this is the problem they can either fix your valve body (sonnax parts) or replace it with an upgraded valve body. hope this helps
