If you say it is getting gas and is firing take spark plugs out it is probably flooded replace them with new plugs before re installing them let the spark plugs stay out for a hour so gas that is in cylinders may evaporate! and if you did flood it pull dip stick if strong gas odour is present you might want to change the oil most times when flooded all the gas runs down in crank case polluting the oil badly smart to change it once you get it running again good luck.

Joyce, you really should charge the battery first. It would be the only way you can tell us or a technician, what the status is. We can't wireless tap into your car to see what is wrong. you need the status and perhaps you even need a technician too.
if the vehicle will start with a jump and not continue to run the most likely problem is the alternator. the alternator supplys the voltage to all the computer functions once the vehicle is started. you may still need a battery just depends on the status of the battery. i hope this helps
Sounds like a throttle positioning sensor. Its what monitors the gas pedal. If its faulty when you push the gas it will choke and sputter and rev high and stall. So will the Mass air flow sensor. Hope this points you in the right direction. With the car running, unplug these 2 sensors 1 at a time and see if the motor stalls. If not 1 of these are to blame.
if you are the original owner, look in your paperwork. if you cant get to the original owner or they dont have the info, you can go to your dealer, and they can reset it for you. and charge you
or you can just start entering codes till it works, which will take you weeks or more.
i'm pretty sure this info is coming to you a little bit too late but here goes anyways.
download the 2.4L engine service manual from this link. its in PDF format. the timing belt procedure starts on page 31.
