Question about 2003 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

2002 dodge neon

Just replaced cam sensor and crankshaft sensor, now the car is stuttering and backfiring upon taking off. I keep getting a code of 1684 (battery disconnect..) the battery has not been disconnected, anyone know what else this could mean?

do you think this could be the cause if he didn't set the air gap properly? I will find out and let you know...thank you for responding ( :

no...don't think that was done, the crank shaft sensor was a used one, a friend replaced it but doesn't have the time for it now...I only have limited knowledge of newer cars...please if you can offer any advice, I really need to get this fixed (:

It has a stutter when driving.

Check fuel pressure, and check for possible trouble codes. Autozone or O'reilleys will do free code scans. I think they also loan or rent fuel pressure gauges.

What are these codes p1779, 11780,po440,po341, replaced cam position censor

Try replacing the crankshaft position sensor. I had a 1998 dodge ram that had that same issue. Thats what it was.
Its by the flywheel under the vehicle. probably on the passenger side.

Where Do I start with a P0016 code on my 2005 Dodge neon (2.0L)

P0016-CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT TIMING MISALIGNMENT
Does the car run? If it doesnt run it may have slipped time.If it does run, use a scope if available and check for a weak or erratic signal from the cam and crank sensors. The cam sensors routinely go out on these cars but a bad crank sensor can cause the code also.

SCAN VECHICLE WITH CODE SCANNER FOR FAULTY CAMSHAFT SENSOR OR FAULTY CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. THEY WILL CAUSE NO SPARK PROBLEMS.

My neon is showing a dtc code 1390, timing belt has skipped one or more teeth. Checked the timing marks and everything is as it should be, should I condemn the cam sensor, or the crankshaft sensor? Or is...

P1390 means cam/crank not in time. Probably slipped a tooth on the cam belt (Installed wrong most likely, easy to do) or, just a chance, cam timing sensor is bad. Take it apart and look ,if you bought the car this way you may have wrong or damaged timing gear, stick shift or automatic may have different shape where the sensor rides,

the computer may need to be reflashed. if it is running then it is not a bad sensor. either of those being bad would cause it not to run.

2005 dodge noen cam sensor

I own a 2002 neon sxt and recently had to replace the cam sensor it should be in the same place.
look on the right side of the motor you should see it. it'll have a small wire harness that clips in the top and its fastend with 4 bolts. Oh and take the battery out before you do it it makes it a lot easier.

Hope this helps.
