Question about 1998 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

Convertible top will not go up all the way.

The top goes down but it will not come back up.  It will start to come up and than stalls out.  It is like it is slipping or just doesn't have the power.

My sons car did the same thing. take the rear seat out, the pump is probably low on fluid. rubber plug on side of pump, I used transmission fluid and had to move the top up and down acouple times to get the air out of the line, Its been working fine since

96 buick skylark 3.1, start & stalls. after trying to start it for a while it starts & runs great. shut it down & it goes back to start & stall. codes are p0170 & p0171. anyone can help...

First I would check vacuum lines. Replace as necessary. Could be the MAF sensor. Unlikely though. Need a scanner to check this. Next I would replace(aftermarket) or eliminate the catalytic converter. Both the codes are for O2 sensors. Too rich, too lean. Doesn't matter, above is what I would do first.

Clean the battery cables this may be a corrosion problem, also test the battery and the charging system performance.

05 audi a4 convertible top goes half way up and stops. Won't go farther or back down

Happened to me while parking on a slight incline...moving to flat surface alleviated problem. However, my top stuck in down position so dealer replaced the module for $750...probably should be a recall item.

Relaced transmission and now have a rattle sound comind from torque coverter area, noise gets louder when gas pedal is applied and noise goes away during shifting of transmission btu comes right back after...

your torque converter is rattling that is the clutch on the stator inside is worn out... You can stall test your torque converter ...Do this but follow correctly. put on parking brake..on the asphalt,,,, block all four wheels...push the gas to the floor for just 2 seconds...down one, two lift off gas pedal quickly..
when your doing this WATCH your RPMs they should reach to around 2200-2400 between the 2-4 rpm if not the Torque Converter is toast!!!! If your car passes the STAll test then when you tranny was put back on one of the fly wheel covers are rubbing....!!!.

2006 corvette convertible power top went down fine will not go back up. checked trunk lid and storage area sensors

This is so old, i'm guessing you probably fixed it by now. But anyway, I had the same problem. It started to occasionally happen after my battery died. When it did happen, I would let both windows up, then push the up button on the convertible top. The windows would go down, then the top goes up. Worked every time. Hope this helps.

Convertible top goes down and won't come back up.

You are probably low on fluid.
Behind the rear seat is the motor/pump/reservoir.
With the top down, fill the reservoir till it overflows with ATF. Cycle the system a few times. Repeat till the reservoir will accept no more fluid.
Look for leaking lines or cylinders. The fluid must have gone someplace.
Always replace lines and or cylinders in pairs.
