96 Dodge stratus Oil leak

Not sure where to Post this But I am having an oil issue with my car its a 96 Dodge stratus 2.0 ES, 5 speed I took it in for an oil change no oil registered on the dipstick , they changed the oil and we noticed it pouring out apperas to be coming from above the oil filter on the passenger side Husband changed the valve gasket and that seemed to help however its still dropping some not pouring out anymore , anyone have any suggestions on what else it might be, or where to look have been told it could be the camshaft gasket, but how hard is it to change that gasket and how do I found and get to it ?
Any help is apperciated .

Hi my name is Allen!

The gasket you are referring too is behind the timing belt cover next to the engine, remove that cover and pop out the old seal behind the camshaft sprocket at the very top of the engine, lube it heavily and you can push it with your fingers, becareful not the bend it are it will still leak, you must get it all the way in or it will pop out again.

Engine Oil not the trans right?
Should be 4.5 qts Capacity
The manual calls for 5w-30 but you can use 10w-30 if you have high miles and issues with oil leaking. Of course once you fill it, check your oil dipstick to make sure you have enough.

Hi. My 2004 dodge stratus ES is ticking horribly. I took it to a local mechanic and told him the problem: When i first start the car it ticks very loudly. It continues to tick for awhile until the car...

If the car has a faulty oil pump I would check the dealer for a recall. Ask for the service department. they can help you. You might get it done for free. Have your VIN number ready, they will need it. And you are right oil pumps rarely go out.

Oil light fickers or stays solid when braking

I had the same problem on a 2002 Stratus. I also had a Diagnostics Code of P0455(EVAP leak). I replaced the gas cap and this fixed the problem. I don't know what EVAP leak had to do with the oil pressure light coming on, but the new gas cap fixed it.

These are famous for cam shaft seals! located behind the cam shaft gear on the timing belt assembly! I changed mine 2 years ago and yesterday popped out again these do this in cold start ups ! looks like oil is dripping quickly beside oil filter! the timing belt cover is where that seal is oil runs down and runs out on ground beside oil filter! the only problem with these are you might as well change the belt and water pump because these are due @ a hundred thousand KM's, the seal is wort $7.00 it is a shame when all you do is change that and 1 month later your timing belt goes then you have to pull all the same stuff apart again! so why not change it while you have it apart the first time it will save a lot on re-entry labour fees!believe me this is my second time around on this issue and labour is around 5-7 hours for this job! good luck let me know how you made out and merry christmas.
