There is fuse just for the tail lights. Above is the fuse layout of the fuse panel inside the vehicle. I have marked the fuse you may want to check if you haven't already. Now there is another possible problem if the fuse is good and that there is a relay just for the darn tail lamps believe it or not even in an older vehicle as you have. The location of it is in the second picture and have marked the location for you. Hope I was able to help....

Ok, first thing is to do a fuse check. check all fuses in the fuse box area for blown circuits. replace any fuse that is blown. there will be a fuse layout on the back side of the fuse panel door. this layout will show a readable diagram of where the fuses you Will need to check are located.

usually fuse box is located under the dash board on the driver side.

find your fuse layout or owners manual and check the fuse and replace it even if it looks ok,thencheck to see if the switch itself is bad,if so replace it by removing the screws,(4-6) and dash cover checking the connection and switch,replace which ever one is bad and turn on the car,turn one the switch if nothing happens the switch is bad replace and enjoy!
