Question about 1998 GMC Yukon

1 Answer

Hard to put truck in gear it feels like it is going to break.

Everytime I try to put the truck in gear to drive or any gear it is really hard and tricky to move. I feels like it is going to break at anytime it is so hard. I am trying to find out what parts could be causing this and what they are called to get it fixed.

Hello;
It sounds as if the interlock from the brake is out of adjustment. You have to put your foot on the brake in order to move the gear shift lever. There is an adjustment for this. Hope this helps.

After driving my e series mazda for about a hour the gears become tight and hard to engage

You might need to have some sort of lubricant put into it i dont know the name of it but if you go into a car parts shop they will tell you or try spraying some WD40 into the area.

I was driving to work this morning and was in 3rd gear, went to down shift at a stop sign and its stuck in 3rd gear. 1988 jeep wrangler. It has been grinding the gear for a few weeks now everytime I change...

The 3rd Gear Synchro is worn or damaged, which is why it grinds when you try to upshift or downshift into 3rd gear. When it goes out completely you will have a very hard time shifting into 3rd gear, since the Synchro lines up the gears to make shifts smooth and easy.

I just got a new used 1995 honda accord and already i'm really unhappy. The gears stick terribly and the breaks... you have to push down really hard and they don't break fast. What can i do about the gears...

the gears are sticking? is the shifter just really tight and hard to move from one gear to the next, or even just wiggle around in neutral? if so, you may need new bushings for it. which are not very expensive. IF the shifter wiggles around easily in neutral, but hangs in a gear when you press the clutch in all the way, you could need a clutch, OR hopefully you can just try bleeding the clutch line. at the master cylinder on the transmission. the breaks.... do you have to push the pedal down really hard, or really soft and far? if you're putting a lot of pressure on the pedal but you don't have to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor, that would indicate to me that your pads and rotors are glazed over. you should replace the rotors, pads and have the calipers checked, and have the brakes bled. if you've got to push the pedal all the way to the floor, there's a good chance all you'll need is to have the brakes bled.

Can't shift

You probably burnt the clutch up.
A good indicator is hard to get into 1st with out grinding as well as reverse, and over all poor ability to shift in any gear.

air in the slave cylinder is more then likely not your problem.
Its pretty hard to do.

you need to check the break fluid level now
i do think it is too late tho
what it sounds like is air in your break system
you need to bleed the breaks not doing so can damage the break booster
you need to add fluid to the booster now as it will help and may not need bleeding
if you keep driving the way it is you may loose your breaks all together which is a danger to you and others
you need to have this attended asap it is not a hard job or expensive job
when you put fluid in the car pump the breaks every time you need to or they get soft this forces the fluid through the pips altho the air may have no where to escape which is why we bleed them to let the air out
hope this helps
