Question about Saab 900

1 Answer

I have a 1997 saab 900s it had been having some trouble idling when the gas was low( i believe this was from trash in the tank/ fuel filter issue.) now, without any warning the engine quit. i still have power, and the starter's good. all the levels appear to be good as well. the engine simply won't catch.

FIrst thing i would do is check fuel pressure on the rail. IT should be on top of engine near spark plug holes. THere is a valve that looks like a bicycle tube valve, press it and see if you have gas. Be careful its under pressure. You really need to put a measuring device on there and see if you have correct pressure.

change your fuel filter and check the fuel pressure on the fuel pump you may have gotten some bad fuel try some STP gas treatment make sure you have a half tank of gas and add a little more go somewhere you can drive 55MPH give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

Trouble starting my 1997 Saab 900S

I'm not a Saab tech, but try the cold start injector if the car has one. It supplies extra fuel during a cold start. Maybe fuel filter or fuel pump. Maybe needs a tune up? If you have a friend to help, get a squirt bottle and fill it with gas. Have him spray it down the air intake after removing the air filter while you crank the engine. See if the car fires up. Ya might want to have a fire extinguisher close by if you try this, just in case. But it will tell you if the problem is fuel delivery related.

Trouble starting, idleing, and cruising without shutting off.

three possible answers to look at ; fuel filter located at the back drivers side by the tank; throttle positiion sensor or crank position sensor[ worst case scenario fuel. pump is starting to fail. gas or fuel filter first; bring the car to advance or autozone for a free scan for trouble codes

Need to know location of fuel pump in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The fuel pump will be located inside your gas tank which will require you to remove the straps and to drop the tank down... The filter depending on the car, will either be inside the fuel tank, or outside of it near the front of the tank.

Other issues that may cause bad idling would be a bad TPS or EGR

SAAB 900 s 1997

you should check your fuel pressure and be sure it is within spec, is this a 2.0T or a 2.3 non turbo and also this is fuel injected correct? same as the U.S.A. 97 saab 900s? if it is a 2.0 with direct ignition try changing out the DI cassette with a friend or junkyard unit to see if that solves it -Jeff also please rate

1997 Stratus Won't Start

you probably ran it to low and sucked some trash out of the tank. try changing the fuel filter or put some gas in it because the little fuel you had in it probably evaporated over night.
