I have a 1986 BMW 325es and the car will start then immediately idle down and off. I've replaced the two fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter and the thermo time switch. Still won't stay running. I did pull one spark plug out and check for spark and confirmed spark. Do I need to check all plugs. Could a bad rotor, cap , plugs , wires, coil cause this. I don't think its fuel delivery. Maybe crank senser , ECU?
HELP!!!!! cars been down for two months now.
-   My problem is almost exactly like yours except i have a 92 BMW 325i and the car starts once for a minute then shuts off once that happens the car won't start for a few hours and the same thing would happen im totally confused i hope this is just due to the fact its cold out i hate mechanical problems-   92BMW325inub
Fuel Injector cold start valve, this will directly affect the problem you are having.
Good luck, and let me know if there is anything else. Also, replacing the distributor cap and rotor are never a bad idea. along with the plugs and wires. with the price of fuel, it never hurts to get better mpg.
i have had the same problem at times. my car would start and then shut off. but i found that i needed oil and check my oil and it was a quater low put in some oil and everything went fine i notices that everytime the oil is low the same thing happens also depending on the position of the car being park meaning that if you are in a down hill position or up hill position i will do the same. so you have to accelarate for 1 minute to have the oil go up. i hope this works

Does anyone have any problems with there 2005 Ford Escape tranmission? I just put in a new transmission and I now have 100,000 miles. However it still feels like its pulling. It seems like this truck is falling apart. New rotors, brakes, tires, rear seal, and windshield wiper motor replaced already. Anybody having problem or am I just the lucky one?

I have a 97 cavalier LS with OD 2.2L i bought off a girl i work with. When you put it in drive it kills the car but can drive it in reverse. I was told the tork converter was locked up so i had the tranny rebuilt, still the same problem.Found out if you pull the o2 sensor fuse out it goes into gear without killing it but it doesnt shift into 2nd 3rd or OD so i figure i have no voltage to the cylinoid at the tranny to make it shift. There doesnt seem to be any other wiring problems anywhere on the car.Could this be the result of an ECM installed previously for a 3 speed automatic instead of a 4 speed automatic and the pins for the ECM to wiring harness doesnt match up properly causing a short through the o2 senser and thus causing there to be no voltage going to the tranny?
