SOURCE: Ford Escort Alarm - Annoying Problem!

it seems that the contact circuit in the driverside door is the problem, it's obviously not the alarm itself others wise the same thing would occure on the passengerside. you have to remove the door panel on the driverside and inspect the wires in that circuit for corrosion which would cause no current to pass between the by pass switch the arms or disarms the alarm. please rate this

SOURCE: Car wont start, makes a clicking sound under the hood

Nissan: Is the clicking sound loud like a solenoid or mild like a relay? Use a test light to see if your getting juice to the solenoid. Also might want to check for juice in and out of the clutch switch while your at it.

Truck: Check for juice at the starter. If the new solenoid is clicking, it's probably working, so the next thing to check is for juice at the starter. If yes, then disconnect the battery and drop the starter and have it tested. If it's not the starter, pull the spark plugs out and try turning the engine by hand with a braker bar and socket on the harmonic balancer. Is there any reason to suspect that the enging might be siezed up?

SOURCE: My 2000 Ford Expedition has

If it is a single click, the problem lies in the starter solenoid or relay. If it is several clicks in succession, the battery may be low or there may be a loose cable. ---------- also try this :-- Please make sure the battery is fully charged before doing this test! Also make sure all the connections on the starter, battery and cable ends are tight and clean! this is important!! This won't be fun to test but it will tell you if the starter is good or not. Crawl under the car. (Make sure you use the proper jacks and jack stands!) find the end of the starter (not the end that is attached to the bell housing) and find the solenoid switch. it should have 3 bolts on it. Two large ones and a small one. The top large wire should be the positive battery cable, the bottom large wire should go into the starter and the small wire should be from the ignition switch. Take a wire and hold it to the top large wire on the solenoid. (be careful of the other end of that wire when you have it connected to the top large wire of the solenoid! don't ground this wire. it will turn out badly. take the other end of the wire and touch it to the small bolt on the solenoid end. If the starter is working, the solenoid should engage and the starter will turn. If this happens it is most likely the ignition switch. If the starter doesn't turn, the starter could be bad. ==== Starter Relay Test
Place transmission in Park.
Apply parking brake.
Check for battery voltage between starter relay battery terminal and ground.
Connect jumper wire on starter relay between battery and ignition terminals.
If engine does not crank, connect a second jumper wire to starter relay between ground terminal and good ground and repeat test.
If engine cranks in step 3, transmission linkage is misadjusted or neutral safety switch is defective.
If engine does not crank in step 3, starter relay is defective.
Follow this step by step and you will pinpoint the problem.
--------
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

SOURCE: 1997 ford escort wont start locks click

If you have factory security system, This can be fixed by disabiling system. original owners book in glove box tells you how. If its after market keyless entry, call guys that installed ask were the bypass switch is mounted.

06 Colbalt Electrical System Dead

I would go to the positive terminal on the battery anjd check for black hard build up on the post and inside the terminal. This is lead sulphate and cause a high resistance to any high current flow. Clean both with sand paper until shiny and refit and tension properly. Do the negative also as it will have build up but to a lesser degree. If the battery lead runs through a connection box Check for tight connections there also. As to towing most towers have a wheel rack that fits under the tyres and lifts them clear of the road so it can be taken to to a shop.

1994 escort wagon 1.9l won't start. Replaced starter. no joy. Doesn't even turn over. battery voltage is good. all lights work. when key turned to start everything turns off as normal. voltage to the...

There should not be any voltage to the control wire on the starter except with the key in the "Start" position and the transmission shifter in "Park" or "Neutral". By "control wire" I mean the small wire attached to the small terminal on the starter solenoid.

If the large wire connected to the large connector on the starter solenoid is what you are calling the "control wire", then the voltage readings you gave indicate a poor connection of the battey cable.

94 ford escort sedan, not turning over after first freeze of year. changed out battery and allsystems are a go, radio turns on lights come on everything but when you turn the key......nothin. it doesnt...

Probably a bad starter relay or connection at the starter. The relay is one of the two located on the right hand under hood at the lower edge of windshield. Listen for a clicking sound when the key is turned. The small wire hooked to the starter could be corroded causing a lack of connection, you can reach it by putting you hand in behind the intake manifold and reach down, you can feel the starter and wiring, wiggle this wire, then try to start again. Hope this helps, let me know.
