Question about 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

1998 Nissan Pathfinder will not accelerate

My son's 1998 Nissan Pathfinder has an sporatic problem, it will not accelerate. While driving, you can press on the gas and nothing will happen, the engine will not rev, it will just go no more the 20 mph, no matter how hard i hit the gas. I had a certified mechanic check it out and they could not find anything wrong with it. they couldnt recreate the problem either. It does leak out a small amount of anti-freeze after it is driven from under the car, but the coolant levels and all fluids are ok. The mechanic also indicated that the plugs, wires, etc. are fine. This problem has occured before, last winter, when it occured last year, i noticed the Coolant levels were low. When i added coolant the problem seemed to go away. I initially thought this was the same problem, but keeping the coolant levels up, and it still occurs.

Last tune-up was at 65k miles or within the last 15,000 miles.

The vehicle is a1998 Nissan Pathfinder, 80,000 miles. 6 cyclinder SE, automatic, 4WD.

The check engine light is not on.

Driving the Pathfinder yesterday the "Service Engine soon" light came on (Finally). I
stopped at an Autozone parts store and they read the codes from under a dashboard connection, to help determine what the problem is, there were 2 codes:
P0325, (indicated that the Knock Sensor detected a condition) and
P0125, said "Coolant temp is always low" the Autozone printout gave
the following information: "The powertrain control module verifies
that the engine is at a proper tempature. Probable cause: 1. Check
coolant level, 2. Thermostat defective 3. ECT (Engine Coolant Temp)
    sensor defective"

The coolant level is fine, so it is either the ECT or the Thermostat, the tech at the store indicated that it was most likely a defective Thermostat.

Fuel air mixture too rich on a 98 nissan pathfinder

My guess would be a fuel injector or fuel pressure regulator problem, or a Mass air flow sensor.
The O2 sensor does not come into play until the engine has run for a couple of minutes.
Is the check engine light on ?

Burned smell coming inside the car(pathfinder 1998) while long journey.

Dear Sir,
As you said while driving burning smell comes, if it occur in this condition 1. at hill side road 2. you trying go up side on slope or 3. you are in traffic on slope. basically what happen due to over riding or you can say you are in 2nd or 3 rd gear and you moving towards up side you will press clutch half and press accelerator , that will cause clutch burning if having problem in pickup then get replace clutch kit assay,if you are not facing any problem with car pickup you can drive it till you feel problem in pickup. it will not stop suddenly it will give indication with pickup loss then go and replace it .till drive the car don't worry. Thanks

Yogesh

I have a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. When the truck

you could possibly have a throttle positioning sensor going bad... you could also check to see if you have an idle air control valve.... that would also make the rpm go up while the foot is on brake, the engine is hunting for fuel... hope this helps
