Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

2000 VW Jetta V5 accelerator/idling problem

This car's accelerator pedal sometimes feels soft, almost mushy, melty as if something else is accelerating - hard to explain. It then revs up all on its own without pedal pressure! This is worse some days than others. Some days downright dangerous! Also when slowing down, if neutral is selected whilst car is coasting, revs up then settles then repeats maybe two or three times, then settles and idles normally?
Drives normally at normal driving speeds, and no power loss etc.
I took it to the dealership yesterday morning and it was normal - never acted up once! (anyone believe in ghosts?) Car has done 200,000Km and been seviced regularly. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks , Alf.

    Thanks mad mazda ma

I guess you are right. Let the mechanics sort it out. This car has an actual accelerator cable from the pedal to the throttle tho. I'm thinking you may be right about wear in the throttle body!!!

    Thanks again,

    Alf

These cars are fitted with a fly by wire accelerator pedal that is controlled electronically by the cars computer it is possible that there is a computer problem or the throttle body ( air intake system )or accelerator pedal is playing up.
it is highly possible that the car is doing exactly what you say it is i recommend you take it back to VW and demand that they take a proper look at it you might have to leve it with them for a couple of days and get a service advisor to drive it home so as they can see the problem ocure.
regardles the cars computer should of thrown a code declaring a fault in the system witch should give the tecs some were to start looking.

good luck with this problem if you have any outher questions let me no

Where is the idle speed control valve on vw polo 1998 classic located

There is no idle speed control vale if it is Bosch mono motronic. idle speed is controlled by throttle actuator, ( electric motor) that is on the left hand side of the throttle body.

I have a Jetta TDI 1993 Model and I have a problem, while driving the I get no response from the accelerator pedal, the car seems to idle but there is no accelerating power. If turn the engine off and on...

Go back to that VW dealer and complain. I'm sure you payed plenty, and I know in my shop, if a customer's car is not repaired to their satisfaction, I want to know, and make it right. Sometimes parts can be bad right out of the box, and sometimes problems are misdiagnosed. Go back, but don't agree to pay for anything untill you get a satisfactory explanation. Good luck.

EPC means Electronic Pedal Control. Fly-by-wire for your gas pedal--instead of a mechanical cable that pulls an accelerator linkage on the engine, there's an electronic device on the gas pedal, an electronic device on the throttle body and a wire between them.
You should check the sistem with diagnostic tool.

Jetta V5 125 kw hesitation problems (2002 model)

Hi Dave

Have you checked your sparkplug cables that run from the coils to the sparkplugs. Had a simular problem and it was the cables. Park in a garage, pop the bonnette and check if there is any loss of spark at the spark plugs.

Hope this helps.

Shop for a rebuilt transmission, or get an estimate from AAMCO for a rebuild job, but it won't be cheap. Get at least 3 estimates before you decide how to proceed. Good luck.

Accelerator Loss

From my experience in owning a VW it souns electrical. Most issues with VWs are electrical related. Most likely a realy of some type. Could also be fuel injection but that is electronic too.

What can cause a non response with the accelerator pedal?

The pedal in a volkswagon is electronic not mechanical. Sounds like a bad connection.
