Ok ill try not to tell you rear main seal. but i can;t it sounds to me like they may have over filled it and as a result that will blow seals. i mean it is very easy to fix. and yet very expensive. also check the place where they put the oil into and check the oil pan gasket. use some break cleaner on it and clean it then add oil run it and check it

I have a 2004 Toyota highlander leaking oil, oil light comes on. Could it be the rubber rings?

a 2004 toyota highlander V6

this should be your engine type
The 2GR-FE is a 3.5 L (3456 cc)

if leaks are that bad
always check the engine oil level before you drive off

fixing oil leaks on motors
degrease whole motor top and bottom

start with replacing the oil sender it may be the cause of the oil light coming on
after degrease
lay cardboard or paper under the car
take out for a drive and park over the paper over night

this pin points most of the oil leak locations
leaks from a V6 motor
rocker covers/ spark plug tube 0 rings.engine seals
cam seals
front and rear engine seals leak often
sump gasket can leak

if oil consumption or light on continues
can be a failing engine oil pump
or worn main bearings giving low oil pressure to the whole engine
you could be burning oil from worn piston rings
or hardened valve stems

a mechanic can fit an oil pressure gauge to the motor when hot
to check running oil pressure to confirm low oil pressure

if engine is worn out

it is possible to fit a lower mileage used motor to your highlander
its often cheaper than and engine rebuild

How can i use stop leak for front seal leak on a 1990 volvo240

It is a simple task..The best advice I can give you is ..DONT get a cheap kind...All auto parts stores should sale this...It works good if you get the best kind that is highly rated with good reviews...All you have to do is pour it in the engine oil fill ...I strongly recommend with safety glasses clean engine completely to remove all oil from leak area while cold....Let it dry then use the sealing substance...BE SURE and follow the directions on the bottle...Also you may want to change your oil and put a thicker oil in it to help stop flow of leak...If it has a lot of miles I recommend 20/50 synthetic...Or if you have recently changed you DONT want to overfill it..Most stop leak instructions will tell you to add to engine when it is 1qt. Low.....I have had luck with sealant in the past..It will either stop it or slow it down.."

Oil light flickers and overheating

Sorry to say the oil light may be for low oil pressure, not necessarily low oil level. If the oil pressure is low, you are wearing out the bearings and engine parts at a very fast pace.

While i was doing off road driving a warnning light (a/t oil temp) turn on, i looked underneath the car and i found oil leak drop after drop, not too sure now should I change the transmition oil and filter...

Change the transmission fluid and filter. The light says fluid temp. is high, so you may have some burnt fluid-deadly for transmissions. Drop the trans. pan and look for metal shavings-too much will indicate failure of transmission parts. If not too much, you may be alright with fluid and filter change.
Stop the leak,. make sure it is trans. fluid, not motor oil. If motor oil, stop the leak and change oil and filter. I would do the transmission regardless, since the light came on.

Oil light reading "stop" car rattling when you press on gas

Check the oil level before driving it. It must be low on oil. Find out where the leak is. Look underneath the car at the oil pan's drain plug-maybe the service guys forgot to tighten it, or worse, cross threaded it. If they made a mistake, take it back to them to fix it.

I have a 1999 town & country and the oil light keeps coming on and the oil was just changed

either the level is low (check it) or they knocked off the wire to the sender unit. Take it back to whomever changed it to check the problem, but DO NOT DRIVE IT if it is low on oil.

A week ago my 2003 CRV suddenly had the check engine light on, then stalled at stops on the way home. I took it to a Honda dealer who ran the codes. I was told the oil was low (1300 miles after the last...

THAT PARTICULAR CODE IS CAUSED BY A CATALYTIC CONVERTER DEFECT. YOUR OIL BEING LOW SOUNDS MORE LIKE IT COULD BUT MAY NOT POSSIBLY BE YOUR STALLING PROBLEM. IF THE CAT IS STARTING TO GET CLOGGED U WILL START TO GET STALLING MORE ON THE ACCELERATOR THEN OFF. YOUR BACKPRESSURE FROM THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE CHECKED. THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER LET U TAKE THE VEHICLE HOME WITHOUT FINDING THE SOURCE OF YOUR OIL LEAK. THE ONLY FLUID ON THIS EARTH THAT DISAPPEARS OVER TIME IS WATER. YOUR OIL IS GOING SOMEWHERE AND IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. SORRY TO SAY BUT U HAVE MORE THAN ONE PROBLEM. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND YOUR OIL LEAK FOUND. SOME OF THESE DEALERS ARE CROOKS. IF YOUR CAR IS STILL STALLING ALWAYS TRY TO GO BASIC FIRST SOME OF THE SIMPLEST THINGS COULD BE CAUSING YOUR STALLING.

Had an oil change about a month ago and about 5 weeks later motor is gone. No oil light came on, no oil leaks

WELL NO OIL LEAKS.WARRANTY MIGHT COVER IT BUT YOU NEED TO SHOW ALL OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS.ALSO YOU HAVE TO USE GM MOTOR OIL LIKE 5W - 30 VALVOLINE USE GM OIL FILTERS.THEY WILL CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU BEEN KEEPING UP WITH SERVICE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE SCHEDULES.CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL ON DIP STICK SHOULD BE AT FULL MARK LINE. THE CHEVY COBALT LS LT LTZ 2.2 ENGINE HOLDS 5.0 QUARTS OF OIL WITH NEW FILTER AND CHEVY COBALT SS SC HOLDS 6.0 QUARTS WITH NEW FILTER.IF OIL LEVEL LOOK OKAY.CHECK ON INTERNET FOR ANY RECALLS OR ANY TROUBLE WITH EARLY OIL PUMP FAILURE.
