1998 Jeep grand cherokee problem with power windows, locks, mirro

My power windows do not work from the driver's door and the 2 rear doors, but does work form the passenger door. The Power locks also do not work from the driver's door, nor the power mirrors. This all started after I replaced the LIft gate supports. I had a problem with the right support, the screw got stuck and end up breaking off. Maybe there is some wiring running thru hatch frame? Anyway if anyone has an Idea of what can be causing this I would be forever grateful.

My 1998 Cherokee has the exact same problem.  No power to any of the windows but the passenger side, as well as issues with the driver side door lock.  The remote lock will lock all the doors, but does not unlock the driver's door.  In fact, because the driver's side window doesn't go down, the car won't pass inspection.  I'm taking it in this week to be fixed.  I'll try to post their diagnosis.

Just took the car to Jeep service department. They diagnosed the problem that my driver door module needed to be replaced. The part cost $300 and labor was to be $200 ($100 to diagnose and $100 to install new module). When I spoke to the technician who worked on the car he told me while diagnosing the problem, he "unlocked the module". When I pressed him further, turns out the windows, mirrors and locks all work properly now. SInce the car is over 10 years old, I told him instead of ordering the part and installing it, I was going to wait and see if the problem reoccurs. They charged me the $100 for the diagnosis. If the problem reoccurs, I will have to pay the $100 install and the $300 for the part. So, basically there is no downside for waiting. I won't be surprised if the module works indefinitely. I beleive all the techncian did to reset the module was to disconnect from the power. No totally sure though.

I just got my jeep back.  I had to replace the module in the driver side door.  The module was about $300 from Jeep, plus labor.  Everything is back in working order.  Thanks for the posts.

I dont think that anything to do with the rear hatch lift supports have anything to do with a wiring issue, however I have recently discovered that there are so many 98 models that were put together in many different factories world-wide that it is the most problematic jeep without uniform or typical related problems haha...but first thing I would do, generally the windows and locks all operate based on the drivers master controls located on the door, you should check the wiring connection on the inside of the door panel and if that is the problem more than likely you will have to replace that module

I had the same problem. It is most likely in the boot between your rear driver door and the door post. Peel back the boot to expose the wiring and you will probably find that it has been pinched. From there, the wiring runs around the truck to the other windows and locks so they stop working as well. I found several wires bare and shorting. I taped them up and everything has been good for a few years since.

1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 x 2, windows and door locks work on driver side, but not passenger side.

sounds like an open power or ground circuit on passenger side, since the door lock and the window, lost its functioning. Both switches would have to be bad at the same time, which is not probable, to be the fault. Unless there is a saftey lock out switch on the drivers panel, controling the passenger side door lock and window.
