Bought truck 3 months ago.. check engine light came on, tranny temp., and o/d light came on... i checked tranny fluid. it was low so i added some. now check engine back on 2days later. fluid low again added more.. but light stayed on... cannt find any leaks anywhere... i can smell burnt tranny fluid.. need some help please
Did you drain the fluid, it may have lots of metal and be really gummed up causing it to over heat and burn off. Aside from that the most commonly overlooked "check engine" proplem is the O2 sensors, there should be 2 of them

This code is set when the transmission control module detects improper voltage at the torque converter clutch. This can be caused by low tranny fluid/dirty tranny fluid/defective torque converter clutch solenoid/electrical connections to from solenoid
The brake light will come on when the brake fluid is low or the parking brake is on. New brakes can make noise at first but not after 3 months. Screeching is caused by low quality pads/rotors or a lack of lubricant on brake parts and behind the pads.
You most likely have a small leak, but be sure to check it in park, when engine is warm.It will not be correct,if it is not checked like this,a little low on transmission fluid is most likely not the problem.I would have the car checked for a bad vacuum in the engine compartment. Also, have the timing checked, these will have a big effect on the transmission to shift, and smooth.
I'm assuming that you have an automatic tranny.
Engine must be warm.
Raise the hood.
Get in and shift thougth ALL gears starting with low and go through up to drive, reverse, ect stopping at each selection for a second or two.
Put in park, reomove the tranny dipstick and wipe off.
Insert and remove dipstick again and check the level.
Add fluid through the dipstick holder if more is needed.
Add the fluid very slowly.
A good place to start would be a fluid and filter change, and be sure you use proper (recommended) fluid. Then I would remove connectors to solenoids, modules etc, on transmission and clean them well with contact/electrical cleaner. Disconnect battery prior just for sake of safety & to make sure no circuits get shorted while doing it.Then give it a try, and see if any improvement. If still acting up, I'd spend a few bucks on at least having diagnosed by a knowledgeable technician at a dealership, or a transmission repair chain. Sometimes it can be a solenoid or speed sensor, or something not too expensive. Once you have proper diagnosis, then make your decision.
it could be that the system is detecting a problem inside of the engine such as thermstat is below threshold temp or what ever the case may be i would suggest taking the vehicle to a auto zone they have a scanner that they hook up that will tell you what the code is after that then come back and post it and i will look to see what the code means and what you can do to fix it thanks for asking and good luck if you can please rate me
this code is a transmission code and has a few different tranny sensors that is reads. you could just be low on tranny fluid or is could be the tranny axle speed sensor. odds are if its running fine now it is just low fluid but you could look into the sensor after that. the sensor is what tells the truck when to shift so thats could be why it went up in rpms if the sensor went out bacause then it would know exactly how to shift.
where the transmission and transfer case meet there is a weep hole, check for leakage out that hole...if it shows a leak you probably have a rear transmission seal leaking. if there is any sealer around where they meet someone tried to stop the leak without properly repairing it.
