first disconnect the negative wire frim the battery. then look on the front side of transmission about middle ways to locate vehicle speed sensor. disconnect the electrical plug from sensor. remove the retaining bolt and lift the vehicle speed sensor from the transmission. replace in the reverse of removal.
what trans do you have? 3 speed or aod? if there is a circle around the "D" on the shift indicator then it is an AOD if not then 3 speed.best to buy a cheap chilton manuel at part store. would be to long to put on here
no codes found because your checking the PCM, your problem is you need codes from the TCM,the computer for the transmission, since you replaced the speed sensor the other two things that affect a speedometer and transmission are the input and output sensors, they both screw in the transmission.
First I need to ask is it a 4 speed or a 3 speed transmission. If it's a 4 speed when driving down the road pull it from drive to third gear. You shpuld hear the engine speed up if it does not then that means you have on 4th gear and you will have to take it to a transmission shop. If it's a 3 speed then just count the shift points if all 3 gears are present then drive down the road and see if the van goes into tcc. When you mean the rpms are high how high are they.
have the car scanned for computer codes in the transmission section, most big name auto parts stores will do this for little or no charge, make sure they look for transmission codes. when you get these get back to me and we'll go from there, please rate my fix as i strive to be the best, don't leave negative feedback, just get back to me
It more than likely will. The Caravan/Voyager/Town and country came with two common transmissions, the 3 speed (the dash indicator has just the 3 speeds) and the 4 speed (the D gear has an O around it to indicate overdrive). The 3.0 was commonly paired with the 3 speed.
normally should take 6-8liters when empty. If it is making those noises keep a tow truck on speed dial.Dodge does not make a very strong transmission.Could be that you just need the bands adjusted but I suspect you either need to rebuild or replace it
