These trucks are known to have problems with the front wheel speed sensors that control your 'traction control'. The traction control is actually applying your brakes. Thats why when you turn it off, You can move with no problems. The only way to really know this for sure is to take it to a repair shop and have them diagnose the problem. You can always just replace the front wheel bearing assemblies (they have the wheel speed sensors built in), but that can get pricey.

SOURCE: 2005 GMC Yukon Denali - Traction Control issue

your problem is the front wheel speed sensor. I had the same problem on my 2004 Denali. The GMC dealer felt there was nothing wrong, no codes. I replaced both from wheel sensors (about $75 each on Ebay) and the problem is fixed. The passenger sensor had a crack in it. I saw this solution on a discussion chat. There was a TSB for the 2002 pickup trucks with the same problem. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Truck losing power and service engine soon light on

Like to other guy said, give it a tuneup. Also try SEAFOAM to clean carb up of slug. Also check to make sure the butter fly for the choke has not come loose, causing it the choke it down. Failed choke pull-off.

Going up steep snowy driveway, tires losing traction, the RPM's of the Lexus RX330 2004 drop to idle speed. Is this related to the traction control system overriding the accelerator? Any suggestions?

Yes sir u should have a button to remove traction control. Logo of sliding tracks. A light should come on yellow in u r cluster to confirm traction off. Traction will follow your accelerator pedal to maximum rpm

Abs light came on

What it looks like: The traction control warning light typically takes the form of the acronym "TC." Sometimes this light is a small illuminated picture of a car losing control What it looks like: The traction control warning light typically takes the form of the acronym "TC." Sometimes this light is a small illuminated picture of a car losing control. How this system works: Traction control uses wheel speed sensors to detect when one or more of the car's wheels lose grip and traction. When the system registers a loss of traction in one or more of the wheels, a computer will limit power to the wheels that are still in solid contact with the road to prevent a skid. Common reasons for this to happen:
  • ABS is malfunctioning: Traction control and ABS (anti-lock braking system) often share the same control module and internal self-diagnostics system. As a result, sometimes an issue in the ABS can trigger the traction control light. If this is the case, then both the ABS and Traction Control lights will be on.
  • Broken wheel speed sensors: Wheel speed sensors are usually in the wheel bearing assembly, and determine the rate at which each wheel is moving. The sensors relay that information to the traction control module, which determines whether or not power needs to be shifted. Wheel speed sensors can get dirty or damaged and stop working, which prohibits the traction control module from knowing when to enable the system.Traction control module is faulty: The traction control module - which, again, is often shared with the ABS - can malfunction and break altogether, causing the system to stop working. What to expect: A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the source and cause of the traction control issue, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs. How important is this service? It's important to have the traction control issue investigated as soon as possible, as adverse driving conditions can arise at any time. While your car is unlikely to incur further damage from a faulty traction control system, it won't be safe to drive in rain, snow, sleet, or other inclement weather, or even possibly through pools of water on the road. Furthermore, the issue that is causing the traction control light to illuminate could also be impacting the ABS.

Traction control lights come on dash in Holden Captiva 2010 diesel lack of power

when the traction control is activated , there is a reduction of power from the engine to compensate for that lost traction control
run the fault codes , repair the reason for the traction control light and then reset the computer using a scan tool and the engine power will return

2003 mustang when traction control light comes on the car lose power almost like shutting down, when it goes off it pick up speed.

The traction control system DOES cut your engine power when the tires spin. That is by design. The system cuts engine power to stop the wheels spinning and restores power once the wheels regain traction. It feels odd when the tires spin and power cuts out. It's good practice to lift off the accelerator when the system kicks in. Otherwise, if you are on gravel or slick streets the tires may spin, stop when traction control kicks in, and then spin again when power is restored. It is not an "elegant" solution but it does work for the most part.

Your check engine light is on because the computer detected a problem with the car. Take it to Autozone and they will scan for the problem. They do this for free. They can let you know what the problem is. This will take the light off also. Other auto part stores do the same service for free. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

means the traction control module is bad. That light is suppose to come on when you lose traction to let you know the traction control is kicking in.

2001 olds ABS and traction control sensor issue

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.
