Peugeot 406 estate, locking problem

Hi. usually caused by faulty drivers door lock motor. It controls the rest so if it fails then it will stop the rest operating properly. check the wiring in the door shut loom for broken wires. Jon.

The alarm is set when you either lock the car with the door locks or using the key and ofcourse the fob, there is usually a red light that comes on when the alarm is set, somewhere on teh dash

Hi,just reading with interest" Ianhende's" problem with his 406, I have the same sort of problem with a 2002 406 hdi (110) i.e hazards going off,plus central locking turning on & off whilst driving. have replaced battery, the mechanic is thinking that it is to do with a faulty door lock, any ideas out there ???? it sounds like one of your central locking motors has failed you need to unplug them one at a time and try it with each one unplugged

Switch ignition ON.Press and hold lock button for 10 sec.Switch ign.Off.Remove key from ign. switch.Wait 5 sec.Sinchronization procedure complete.Confirm sinchronization has been successful by locking,double locking and unlocking vehicle. Repeat abuve procedure to sinchronize any remaining key.Good luck

it would never be 1000 euros!!!!!!!!!!!! it will be part of the exhaust system it cuts out because its causing pollution

Remove the door pannel and spray releasing oil over the central locking solinoid.That should sort it for you good luck.

Had same trouble with my 406, fixing no problem, with new battery in fob, insert into ignition, turn key, BUT DO NOT START ENGINE, hold button for about 10 seconds release button and remove key from ignition, then try and see if doors lock on remote, if not try again, had to do this a couple of times, and it worked, sorry to say that now my key fob button has completely fell apart, through ware and tare

you need door open to remove child lock safety switch off..although it is impossible to remove door trim when door is shut without damaging trim panel.

you need to reprogram the fob
