1999 two wheel drive 1500 chevy Surburban - fan blows fine, but no heat. Is this something I can fix without the expense of taking it to a mechanic?

1999 Chevy Suburban. Heater fan blows, but it blows cold air. Once the car is warm you can turn on the fan and it will be hot for about 30 seconds. Then it goes cold again.

1999 Chevy suburban. Heater does not get warm. The fan blows fine. Once the engine is warm you can turn on the fan and it will blow warm for about 30 seconds....then goes cold again. Thought maybe it was a fuse or something, but don't see anyting in the book about that. Hope it is not an expensive repair.

Either the heater core is plugged up or there is an air pocket in the cooling system. Email if you like. @ imoveplasma@ yahoo.com

No your thermostat is stuck open which will not hurt the engine. but needs to be replaced, the thermostat is what allows the engine get up to operating temp. before allowing water to flow through the radiator and when it is stuck open it doesnt allow the engine to reach operating temp. so the heater never gets hot. I hope that helps you out.

If the blower is blowing air just fine, but you cannot control the temperature, you need to listen to air coming from the vents while turning the temperature from hot to cold. If you do n ot hear any change in airflow, then you may a temperature door in the dash broken. this is becoming a common problem on the Equinox and Pontiac Torrent,
