Driver side door will not open

Stop by your local Chevy/Cadillac/GMC dealership and talk to the part guy. Take a look at the diagram of the door latch mechanisms and he will sort it out with you probably, free of charge. These types of failures normally are not anomolies and he/she may be able to tell you of someone else who has had this issue and what the problem is.
Buy the needed part and take your door apart to replace the broke linkage. If you dont feel comfortable with that, take it to someone who does.

Broken wire inside rubber sleeve between door and body, or switch is bad. You might want to check fuses also.

Driver door lock shoved inside door. (someone tried to break in) I need a schematic or diagram of the door. How to take it apart, what it looks like inside to try and fix this. Can anyone help?

I had same problem. it was not broken into. the screw that holds lock cylinder in fell out. to get inside door is easy. remove screws around border all sides of door and one in middle near speaker. the gentley snap door away from the two clips on inside and lift up off window opening . peel back plastic and you will see the lock mechanism. if need be ( i had to) you can unplug the automatic locks, window and other electric harnesses attached to door inside cover. the lock cylinder will be in bottom of door w/ a brass hex screw. there is a white piece of plastic insert in the hole of lock mechanism and reattach (snap onto bar). its all easy no schematic needed if you have a lil mechanic ability. good luck.

93 jeep door lock Broken

It might an easy fix...

I had the same problem and it ended up that it only was a metal rod that was unhook from mechanism...

-undo your inside panel by pulling on it
- check the mechanism...

Be careful there is some small plastic pieces that breaks easily after 15 years of life!

hope this helps!

Driver sode door lock

The locking solenoid may need to be replaced, or the rod adjusted.
You will need to remove the door panel to watch the movement.
If the solenoid is not fully extending, it will require replacement.
It will look similar to this...
7fbc21e.jpg
In the picture below, it will be #4

47cdcd4.gif Check the locking mechanism is lubricated properly. Try spraying some penetrating oil in the mechanism (just above 3 in the diagram) Wait 10 minutes, and re-try.
If the actuator does not fully extend, it will need to be replaced.

Door not closing, mechanism not ingaging

Hi. Have you checked the "child safety" catch the prevents the door being opened from the inside? That might be in the wrong position and causing a problem. I had a problem on my 93 Golf and I got it working again by exercising the catch mechanism with a screwdriver - pushing the locking mechanism- the greasy bit on the edge of the door - up and down numerous times and lubricating it again.

Hope this helps. If this "fixes ya", I'd appreciate a rating for my reply, If not, please delay the rating and add a comment with any extra info you have and I will try to think of something else.

Cheers, D.
