Got a mechanic to fix problem. thanks for responding. when you face the motor on the leftside where the pulley tensioner goes is where we found the loose lead. Looks like a gray flat shoe lace.

Then I was having trouble trying to remove bottom bolt to replace the tensioner not enough room to move. Mechanic will bring a mechanics wrench tomorrow. I thank you again.

Can the transmission be remove from the top with ease?

In most cases no. If it is front wheel drive there is a sub frame and it drops down with the whole power train on it. You literally lift the body off the sub frame to work on the transaxle.

2002 chevy cavalier transmission how to take it out

you have to support the engine with an engine brace, drop the sub frame after all things connected to it are disconnected, then pull the drive axles, unbolt anything connected to the trans mission like lines, starter motor, unbolt flywheel to torque converter bolts and then transmission to engine bolts, then pull transmission from motor and drop out of car. go to the library and get a repair book on your car it will show you what has to be done then you can decide if this is a job you can handle.

How to take transmission out

It is a pretty involving process to remove and replace the transmission on a Honda Odyssey and not recommended for the home DIY mechanic. Without a vehicle hoist or lift, it is a daunting task to undertake. This will be a brief description of what may need to be removed. The engine and transmission sits on a sub frame cradle. The engine will need to be held and supported by an engine support bar. The sub frame is then unbolted from the bottom. All things necessary must be removed before the sub frame can come out. For example, the rack and pinion bolts, sway bar, lower front ball joints, front and rear engine mounts, and any and all brackets and hard lines. After the sub frame is completely out, the flywheel bolts will have to be removed from the transmission. The cv-axles will have to be removed along with the transmission fluids being drained. Then the harness/connectors disconnected from the transmission, and then the bolts to the engine and bolts for the transmission mount. With a floorjack, the transmission can then be dropped out from underneath. Installation is the reversal.

How do I replace the subframe

by sub frame I`m guessing you mean the frame under the engine & transmission. if so you have to support the engine/trans with an engine brace and disconnect every thing that is attached to the sub frame then unbolt the frame bolts and lower the sub frame. note this is heavy weight so make sure you have help and something to support the frame when doing this.

Removing transmission

Yikes! Well I would drop the sub frame if you're working on the ground. OR you could remove the engine then you have more space to get the transmission. But I gotta ask: why? Why work on it in the first place?

Can i lift engine out of top wihtout disconnecting gearbox and sub frame volvo v70 d5

NO.you must remove the transmission from the subframe,or drop the whole drivetrain from underneath(the reverse of factory fitting, this is not recommended as the body is too heavy to move around)

Cadillac seville sls '97 complete engine removal

the best way to do is dropping the engine and the transmission together with the sub frame
disconnect the rack and pinion, struts and brake lines
then you can separate the engine from the transmission once it's out.

It's no party, believe me. The motor and transmission come out as a unit. The whole assembly gets dropped with the sub frame included. many disconnections to deal with in addition.Good luck, Dana
