My 95 nissan hardbody only starts if i bang around the starter a little, and only starts every now and then, the starter has power, would this be a Solenoid Switch problem?
No ... the bearings are failing around the armature inside the starter causing it to ground out against case the power needed to light it...replace starter

Does it sound as if the starter kicks out before the engine starts if yes the starter drive has gone bad, you can have the starter repaired or replace it. If it just cranks and won't start check the battery if it's getting bad it will crank the engine but not have enough power left to run the electronics. I hope this helps, take care. Wiggle the bsattery terminals while someone else is trying to start car and see if that works. if not have some try to tsrat car as you bang on the starter which is directly to the left of the air box and down. you can use a tire iron or a hammer with a long metal object to bang on.
disconnect the battery and then the starter wires on the starter underside of the engine then undo the two boltsx and slide the starter out. you might got to library and get a Haney's manual
On top of the starter unplug the solenoid wire. Then make a jumper wire with a spade connector on one end about four feet. plug this into the solenoid and use the other end of the wire to tap the positive side of the batt. this should engage the starter if all is well. if it dosen't, then the problen is the starter.
