1992 Honda Accord will not turn over when trying to start it

My 92 Accord will not catch and start when I turn the ignition. It sounds as though it wants to, but just won't grab. We have already tested the battery (which was old and bad), now there is a new one in there. Still nothing. I can confirm that it not the "clicking" sound you would get if it were the starter, but beyond that, I'm at a loss.

Someone mentioned to me that it could be flooded and to take the spark plugs out to let them dry?? But I believe it's a fuel injected car, so isn't flooding incredibly unlikely?

Please help, car is in my parking garage at work stranded....

Mine ('92 Accord, 190k) was starting just fine until last week when we had heavy fog locally for two straight days (may be coincidental). The car would not ignite the next morning, and I ran the battery down trying. I waited a couple of days (which were extremely cold, again, maybe coincidentally) then jumped it, and it started and ran for about 5 minutes, then died. The the starter would turn it over, but to no avail. No ignition. I towed it in to the garage, and three hours later got a call saying a new distributor was needed. Approximately $400 for diagnostics, labor and the part.

Do you smell gas when you turn it over? If you do (and you probably do) Check to see if you have any spark (chances are you won't). I everything I metioned above is the case, replace the distributor. While you're at it if you haven't recently replaced the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs, (tune up) I would do it all at the same time. The distributor tends to run about 300 bucks but you'll only do it once. You are correct about the flooding being unlikely by the way.

Change your starter it's bad but first have them check it out.

92 honda accord ex wagon wont start

If you are sure you are getting fuel, this could be a problem with the ignition coil or ignitor. Sometimes when they start to go you get an intermittent problem like this, These parts aren't too expensive and they shouldn't be too difficult for you to replace. You can also check if rotating the distributor to adjust the timing makes any difference.

Try changing your ICM (ignition control module) located under the distributer cap.

My 92 honda accord will not start. It turns over,

Hi I would check to make sure it is firing good and getting gas . If it is getting gas and the timing is good but it is not firing I would check the ignition module out . It will cause this.

92 honda accord intermittent crank but no start/ tranny issues

I know that early 90's Honda's had problems and in fact a recall on the distributor. Might want to replace the distributor. Inside of the distributor is a part called the igniter which is the ignition module and that is what normally goes out. I cannot remember if you have to replace the whole distributor to get the igniter or if you can just replace the igniter itself. Has been a few years since I have worked on one. hope this helps but if not please contact me. I'm not sure about the drive light flashing thing though, new one on me.

92 accord - ignition / steering transmission locked

if the wheel locked when trying to turn the ignition, that is not uncommon. Just simply turn and hold the steering wheel the opposite way, then you will be able to turn the ignition on.
