Welcome-
some time when you install the fuel pump the metal lines that are on the pump get bent. if you bend them upwards you might get better fuel pressure. and have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? that i might also be shot.

thanks
Tom

My 87 ford ranger is wasting a lot of gas

Low fuel mileage starts with a list of stuff #1 tire pressure too low #2 wheel alignment is off #3 engine warm up too long (bad thermostat) # 4 o2 sensors lazy #5 worn fuel injectors

My 1986 Ford Ranger stalls out after I take my foot off the gas and let it idle at an intersection even when I have it in neutral.

ngine stalling issue at low speeds

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

2002 ford ranger 4.0 L 4x4 check engine light is on and codes are saying its running lean on both sides, any ideas?

Could be low fuel pressure, There should be a place on the fuel rail that you can hook up a fuel pressure guge,if it is low, could be filter or pump issue. Or could be a big vacuum leak, but it would either idle rough or fast with a vacuum leak usually. In a nut shell, to lean means not enough gas getting to the cylinder for the amount of air getting to them. Sometimes the Maf sensor on fords can get dirty and cause that also, It is was tells the computer how much air the engine is getting, so the computer schedules enough gas. It can only be cleaned with electronic cleaner, anything else will destroy it. Hope this helps.

I have a 87 ford ranger and i put a fuel pump in the tank and drove about a mile and died.Has gas to the engine. will only run if sprayed down the throttle body. Its a 2.9, any thoughts on problem. Thank

there are 2 fuel pumps, a low pressure in the tank and a high pressure on the frame rail. the high pressure pump is probably bad. Check your relay and inertia/cut off switch first.

New coil pack, ran good for a week. Replaced pack, wires plugs and fuel filter, still dies when I step on gas.2002 3.0 V6. 70K miles

The fuel pump may be about done. Check fuel pressure at the test port in the fuel rail over the injectors (rent the pressure tester)--it should be in the 40 to 50 PSI range with engine idling. If the pump continues to run with the key on, but the engine off, shows that the pump is about worn out. Hope this helps!

My ford ranger idles low and spits gas out the exhaust

Hello,
First confirm it is either gas or eastter. Wayer/condedste collects at the tail oip as a byproduct of the caralyctic converter on cold rngine It normally occurs on firts start of a cokd enginw. the ebgine idles low because it is col, but should reyutn to normsl after warm uo.. If for sure iys gasolinem and the engine runs eiygh, then angihector is bad, good luck. I hope this helped yyou
