SOURCE: cam shaft sensor

It should be at the rear of the head at the end of the camshaft. some are located at the front of the head. Either one, there is a 2 prong plug that goes to it.

SOURCE: 2001 Saturn SL2 cam shaft postion sensor

There are no cam shaft position sensors in this model. Check your spark plugs and the wires (boots, etc.) I had the same problem. Also a common problem in this model: if it over heats check your coolant temperature sensor. Jack up one side (drivers) of the car so less leaks out when you check it. The ones that come in the car usually crack, use the copper ones.

Looking for the location of the cam shaft sensor on a 1997 ford thunderbird 4.6 V8. Does anyone know ehere it is?

Hey, I do! I had a problem with the cam position sensor on my 97 T-bird two years ago. The symptoms were weird, like a bad transmission acting up, but it wasn't the trans. Anyway, the CPS is located behind the power steering fluid reservoir on the right side (when standing in front of the car with the hood open.) The CPS sticks into the top of the head. It was relatively easy to replace: one bolt holds it in place. Take that out, reattach the electrode, and you're back in business. Good luck!

1996 thunderbird 4 6 power brakes and power steering fades in and out while driving"

This may be your problem.

FORD: 1994-96 THUNDERBIRD LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1994-96 COUGAR ISSUE: Steering efforts at low speeds may intermittently increase to the heavier for highway setting on some vehicles. This is due to electrical "noise" from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) being picked up by the Electronic Variable Orifice (EVO) module. The EVO module then interprets this as an increase in vehicle speed and reduces the steering assistance to the heavier for highway level.
ACTION: Replace the EVO module with a new module that has improved filtering for electrical noise. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE Replace EVO module (F6SZ-3F712-BB). Locations are as follows:
  • On 1994-95 vehicles, the EVO module is located under the package tray in the trunk.
  • On 1996 vehicles, the EVO is located under the heater blower case on the passenger side.
Refer to Section 11-02 of the appropriate year Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual for additional diagnosis and repair information.
