Sounds like an ignition problem , have you done any maintainence on this car, if not, replace the spark plugs, gas filter, check ignition wires, rotor if equipped

My BMW 1996 318i won't seem to start. Sometimes it would but most of the time I'm stuck trying start it, battery seems fine radio etc works, engine won't turn over though. Don't know what the problem

i see dash lights on when you try start engine.could have faulty starter relay or bad starter solenoid or starter bad.use a 12 volts test light see if power going to starter.if starter circuit okay could have theft security problems because BMWS did have theft security key ignition system back in 1994.

I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee. The ignition will not turn over but the lights and radio still work so I know it's not the battery but it still won't start. What could the problem be?

Little confused there

The Starter Turns over the engine
Then the ignition comes into play

Any lights etc means nothing, as they only use
a small amount of current, the guys you can't see,
that do all the work

The battery may be dead
If not then the starter solenoid
If not then the starter

96 Firebird Formula, 5.7 LT-1, 6-speed manual starter problem

Starter Have a friend turn the key to the start position while you tap the starter with a hammer. If the starter is going bad but has not completely failed most of the time it will start when you tap on it.
Ignition switch If the key turnes easily and lights, radio, etc. come on when it is in the on position I don't think it is the switch. Plus if the starter has never been replaced I'd say the chance that is the problem is very high.

96 Blazer Starting Problems II

Your starter is fine your problem is your timing it is to advanced. Find someone to time it if you dont know how to do it. The electrical is coming from the starter not being able to turn your engine over its straining the starter which is cause a lack of voltage to all your other components

96 toyota will not turn over(start),and power works still.

on your transmission, you should have a sensor that tells your car to start on park or neutral....

sometimes it will give up on you.... you should have it checked out...

Car won't start

check starter relay in the power distribution center, then check main power lead at starter 12v all the time and small lead on starter 12v with key turned to start. If there is power there, starter is bad.
Ignition switches do fail, but far more infrequently than the items I listed. Good luck.....any additional questions, ask!
