Follow the top right large radiator hose to the block. The hose is attached to the thermostat housing which is bolted to the block. As you may suspect, the thermostat is located in the thermostat housing. Remove a couple of 10mm bolts and two 13mm bolts.

ACTUALLY ITS A 2002 INTRIGUE,CAR OVERHEATED SHOP FIXED WATER PUMP AND THERMOSSTAT I DROVE IT HOME 10 MILES BY THE TIME I GOT HOME GAGE WENT TO 3/4 AND ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOD POPPING NOISE THEY SAID...

if your mechanic would suggest taking the thermostat out i dont think to highly of him, i think after installing the waterpump they didnt purge the cooling system correctly, if you remove the thermostat your heater wont blow hot air and it may also cause your cooling system to run in an open loop and you will have them pesky lights on the dash driving you crazy, i would suggest having a different mechanic try to purge the system first

Jsut want to know where crankshaft position sensor

Hi!!

here are illustrations of the CKP (crankshaft position) sensor in 2.3L and 3.0L.

Note: In the bottom of the 2.3L drawing says Trottle Position (TP) Sensor, this is wrong, It should say CKP Sensor.

2.3L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located to the left of the crankshaft pulley.

3.0L Engine

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor is located just behind the crankshaft pulley on engine block.

The cost of the sensor is $23 bucks at AutoZone.
