Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

Starting problem I have a 1995 Jeep wrangler with a 4 cylinder standard transmission. When I try to start it I have to turn the key several times to the on position until i hear a clicking sound from the fuse box under the hood. Finally when that happens I can hear the fuel pump turn on for a second like it should. Then it will start. I need a wiring diagram so I can trouble shoot this annoying problem before it gets worse. I have already switched the relays around but still no luck. could it be the ignition switch? Thank you very much for reading about my issue.

I have the same issue and it only happens every once in a while. Same year and make, but my gas gauge will pin itself all the way right, and the battery is still there, the fuse box clicks and it just sits there like the car is on but won't turn over. So if I leave the key in the on position for a while, eventually the gauge will slowly work itself back and then it will turn on.

I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee and It won't start. I've changed the rotor and distribator cap. It gets gas and it has spark, but it won't start. Is there a resistor that controls the firing motor on this Jeep?

Providing that the motor turns when you turn the key, I'm going to guess that you may have a bad ignition switch or a poor connection somewhere between the key and the pump. I just checked the only wiring diagram I have and am seeing two fuel pump relays. This diagraqm has lied to me before, but it may be worth checking this out!

The in tank fuel pumps on these vehicles have check valves to hold fuel pressure. possible bad fuel pump check valve, Try turning the key to the on position three or four times to let fuel pressure build up and then see if it starts easier

1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5L Fuel Pump/Check engine light

Could be one of several items...I'd check the fuel pump relay, auto shutdown relay and the ignition switch itself. I'd bet on it being one of those relays but, we all have been fooled at least once!!! I'd also make sure that body and engine grounding is good and clean. Relays can't work properly without a good ground.

I need to bleed the clutch on my 1992 jeep wrangler and need to know were to locate the bleeder insert

The bleeder valve will be on the slave cylinder. Follow the hydraulic line from the Master Clutch cylinder down to the slave cylinder by the transmission.

Staring issue... 1999 Jeep Wrangler 4 cylinder(manual tran). recently I've noticed that in the morning or after it's sat for while, when I turn the key the engine cranks for a couple of seconds before...

instead of cranking, just leave key on for a minute...if there isn't a delay starting after that it may be a bad drainback valve in the pump. You can either live with it for a while or replace pump...but check that it's not an injector leaking into engine first.(usually if that's the case, leaving key on will lengthen start time and give a puff of black smoke on startup)

Trouble starting

sounds like your fuel pump is about to go bad. when you turn the key on, it engages the fuel pump for about 3 seconds. If you cycle the key on and off for 3-4 times it should create enough fuel pressure to start the jeep. Try it. Let me know.

1991 jeep wrangler not shifting into gear could this be clutch

I would first bleed the tranny lines, if that doesnt work then your tranny is out and need to get it replaced. FYI with Jeep Wranglers, It is better to get a new transmission then to rebuild them
