1997 jeep grand cherokee won't start after alarm went off

I just had the same prblem. Reconnect your alarm first of all. You need to use your key bob "remote" to deactivate the alarm before starting. It is a feature "good one" i might add that should someone try to steal it the jeep will not start until u deactivate it w theke bob.

To reset the alarm: with your keys on the keylocks do "lock/unlock will reset the alarm an enable you to start the vehicle . I dont know which door is yours but try it on the two front doors and the trunk door. Mine is on the trunk. Good luck. Nixon.

Alarm activated when it wasn't engaged. Now car won't start runn

some alarms have kill switches, but most of them prevent the car from even starting. i would consider strongly getting the remote for the alarm or Completely disconnect the alarm module.

Alarm problem on 94 jeep gcl

Check the switch contacts on your doors, and in the door locks. Might be a door switch that has a short in it causing the alarm to go off. There is a diagnostic mode you can run to check the door switches and the alarm triggers. Disabling the timed dome light relay will help you a lot, as you will have to wait till the lights shut off before you try another contact. Check out this website on about.com. It will show you how to run the test on the contacts and switches in the alarm system module:
