Question about 2003 GMC Yukon
There are no gears in the speedometer. The gauges are driven by small "stepper motors" which are soldered onto a pcb. The stepper motors are a known issue at GM. If your vehicle has less than 70K miles GM will replace it. If they refuse and you are comfortable using a soldering iron you can repair the cluster yourself.
