Lincoln MKX.....duel climate control......heat working on drivers side but not on passenger side.....blower is working....no heat just cold air.

There is a part called a air temperature control blend door in the ducting of the system and the door is operated by a tiny DC motor, if the passenger side will not change temperature at all then this little motor may be defective or the door is warped and sticking from heat.

Side windows on passenger side fog up. Not on driver's side, only on passenger.

so find out which vent is dead,?
before 5 gallon LYSOL flush an a week long GAG !
make sure first never to use RECRIC, when wanting to defog.
and is the A/C running in dash defrost mode (compressor main shaft spins)

if a vent is dead, its a bad damper valve, (not saying a part, a function)
the book is free, you can read it, HVAC. see venting and dampers.
its very simple in concept, a fan, a damper and dry air. hot.
the heater core makes heat the non recirc, damage gives you fresh air, the A/C makes that air dry. and the dampers the supply all vents work work.
so make sure the controls are set right,
then see if the upper vents all blow, with hand waved on them.
see? that is easy, and not reporting a dead vent ,makes help harder.
the FSM is on line, ill look for you.
but first HVAC 101
  1. does blower work on high?
  2. does the recirc turn to fresh are,and you get fresh air with blower off moving, at all top vents. y/n
  3. do you have full heat? 180F + engine heat (scan tool shows this as ECT)
  4. do all vents top work , blower on?
  5. is the A/C compressor working in A/c mode (cold) and Defrost?
  6. more... below.
Rule one, dont work in dash until air bags are DEFEATED (injury) (pull battery neg lug, and wait 1hour)

got fsm page open, ill state some facts needed to fix this.

first ill prove the dash system does not need total dismantle
for all jobs. Does NOT.
Air /mix blend door
Single Zone/Dual Zone Driver's Side(FSM)
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel silencer from the driver side of the instrument panel.
  3. Remove the three screws that secure the blend door actuator to the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing .
  4. Remove the blend door actuator from the air distribution housing and disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector from the actuator.
  5. Remove the blend door actuator from the vehicle.

next page, is blend door 2, type.
has vacuum servos.
we move the controls and make sure all servo vacuum motors
work

this car has driver side and passenger side seperate blend doors.
so,,, we are getting close here>
?
if the defroster fails,(seems not) then that is electric motor drive
and very hard to test . (if not door jam)

in any case, we need to know what part is failing,
if the passenger blend is dead.
seen below,
we then must find out why
1: just stuck.
2: servo actuator failure
3: controls to #2 above bad, or connections to each.

08 dodge nitro blows hot air on passenger side but cold air out the drivers side!! Any answers

NOTE: LHD model shown. RHD model similar. All vehicles are equipped with a common heater, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) housing assembly (1). The heating-A/C system combines A/C, heating, and ventilating capabilities in a single HVAC housing mounted within the passenger compartment behind the instrument panel. The HVAC housing assembly includes:
  1. Mode-air doors (2)
  2. A/C evaporator (3)
  3. Recirculation door actuator (4)
  4. Air inlet housing (5)
  5. Recirculation-air door (6)
  6. Blower motor (7)
  7. Blower motor resistor (8)
  8. Heater core (9)
  9. Air distribution housing (10)
  10. Blend-air door (11)
  11. Blend door actuator (12
  12. Floor distribution ducts (13)
  13. Mode door actuator (14)

Cant find the door acuator switch on 2001 monte

Air Temperature Control Blend Door Failure No Heat or no AC (dependes on where door sticks)

In all modern cars there is a tiny DC electric motor driven gear drive that moves a plastic door that blends heated and cooled air from the AC and the heater core, this is called (interestedly enough) the air temperature control blend door actuator. The motor that moves this door fails because the door starts sticking from warping, most common complaint is no heat but it can be no AC as well. To replace these parts (blend door and blend door actuator) you must remove the entire dash from the car. Always have this problem confirmed by a dealer or qualified repair shop as it is a very expensive repair.

Other causes of no heat in the cabin are engine thermostats that are stuck open (engine runs cold) or air bubbles in the cooling system.

Driver side blowing hot air passenger side blowing cold air

I'm having the same problem except on mine it's the driver's side that's blowing cold. Do you have the pictures in a finer resolution? I can't make them out and when I zoom, they are too grainy. Does the replacement require removing the dashboard? What's the general cost of the acuators? Are they readily available at like NAPA or other parts stores?

check the vacuum lines going to the h-vac (under the dash where the blower motor is) make sure there are no vacuum leaks if there are no leaks start checking the blend door acuators firts locate all of them then start looking for the one that closes and opens the cold and hot blend door. turn the nob to heat and the other one to panel (not a/c panel just air) then if your not sure which one controls the hot and cold blend door start checking to see which acuator has vucuum going to them if there is vucmuum going to them but the acuator does not move replace it.but if it does compress take the rod lose from the blend door and see if the door in side the box is broken. if is not replace the climate controler on the dash. i hope this helps.

AC unit blows cold on passenger side and warm on driver side.

Hi,
There are separate blend doors for the passenger and driver's side. The blend doors divert, not block air, so it is unlikely that the blend doors are the problem. You need to check the operation of the re-circ door.
There may be some more duct work that attaches to the heat/air conditioning housing under the dash, that supplies air and or heat to both the driver side and passenger side of the car, the duct work on the driver side may have come disconnected.Check this also.
Hope this helps
Thanks
Smith.
