Question about 1995 Ford Escort

Seat belt is loose

My driver's side seat belt has no tension and it hangs loose. The passenger side works fine. Has anybody else had this problem and is it expensive to fix?

You will need to replace the tensioner, and the best solution is to go to car-parts.com and order you one from a salvage yard. It is not difficult to replace but you will need a set of large torxs bits to remove and it will require snapping off the piller molding

2009 Chevy Impala LT code b001b What to do with this?

Code B001b is for Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) for Air bag.

Potential Causes:-
  • Drivers Seat Belt Anchor Pretensioner
  • Passengers Seat Belt Anchor Pretensioner
  • Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM)
  • Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) Wiring
1. Confirm the passenger seat belt anchor pre tensioner connector position assurance is clicked into place.

2. If not, click it in and retest.

3. If the codes reset, disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.

4. Substitute a 2.0 to 2.2 ohm resistor for the passenger seat belt anchor pretensioner. Refer to Tech Tips for a load tool.

5. Retest for the code to reset.

6. If the code resets, check for harness problems between the seat belt anchor pretensioner and the Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM).
Tech Tips: At the beginning of the 2009 model year, the Impala began being equipped with two pre tensioners for the driver and two pre tensioners for the front passenger. The first pretensioner is still attached to the seatbelt retractor. The second pretensioner is attached to the anchor point for the seat belt.
A load tool can be fashioned from an 1157 light bulb and socket. Turn the bulb into the socket. Using an ohmmeter, determine which 2 wires have 2 - 3 ohms of resistance. Use those 2 wires as the load tool.

Air bag code 33 for a 2005 lincoln town car

2005 Towncar SRS Code 33 (3 flash + 3 flash, repeat this set for twice. then Beep 5 times pause x 5 = 25 beeps every 30min).

This means you have problem with left (Driver) side pretentioner (Seat belt retract system).
It doesn't mean physical belt or retract mechanism. It is just bomb wiring which is part of airbag system.
When airbag deploy, passenger must stay tight in seat otherwise body lean to front then slam back to seat by airbag.
if belt is loose or delay to lock, passenger's body rocks back and forth. So, system use small bomb (Fire power) to lock and retract seat belt when airbag deploy. There is small bomb and igniter in part of Seat belt retractor.
Code 33 is warning for this part on 2005 Towncar.(older model is different meaning in Ford/Lincoln, it's possibly passenger side airbag system for earlier model)
Before you work for any part of Airbag system and touch any "Yellow connector", * *Disconnect battery (negative side is good enough) and wait at least 5 min to clear all power in system**.(Airbag store back up power for few minutes to be able to deploy even in case if power disconnected)
by the way, you should move your driver seat most forwarded position before you disconnect battery to make it easy to work with seat belt.
locate driver side seat belt retractor (in center pillar between front and rear door, you may have to fight with weather strip)

Locate Yellow connector on bottom of Seat belt retractor (it's called "Pretensioner")it is located on very bottom of rear side of retractor.
only one yellow connector. (make sure your battery is disconnected)
Check its physical connection or looseness.if connection looks fine, you may have to replace whole seat belt ($180-$200 in Lincoln dealer)
You can check if pretensionor is good or bad by regular tester, but unless you know how, I won't tell (because I don't wan't you to blow out pretentionor).

Need to tighten the belt and nothing looks movable. Anyone have a diagram?

it the belt is loose, the tensioner is bad. Its a pulley that should move and has spring tension on it. its a large pulley about 3" in diameter. replace the belt and tensioner.

87 Grand Am Seat Belt Locked

If your seat belt is in the door, start slamming your door after you are inside the car and this will activate the tensioner that holds the seat belt in place. This will not always work ,just cross your fingers.

Just bought a full set of leather seats for a bmw e60 55 plate 523i,and need to remove the originals, looked on the web and some people are saying disconnect battery and also something about seat belt...

Best take advice from a workshop, the seat belt buckle attached to the seat has a pyrotechnic tensioner charge in it which is activated electronically. Can cause injury if triggered accidentally and in your hand etc! There are several electrical connections depending on year and model, as aminimum will usually be 1 for seat occupancy mat (tells ystem if seat occupied for airbag deployment) and the seat belt tensioner. Both are fairly obvious to see and can be tracrd back from seat to connector plugs. If doing yourself, suggest disconnecting battery with ignition on to discharge as much as possible from systems, remember anti-theft has sepearate power source, so may be noisy! And make sure you have any security codes for radio etc.

Drivers side seat heater won't warm the seat

sounds like a bad relay. Look in the owners manual or on the fusebox cover. It will not be a fuse, but a silvery looking box that pulls out. Youll have to check the documentation to see which one it is in your vehicle.
Sometimes it is under the seat in a Volvo.
check the relay under the seat, make sure it hasn't worked its way loose. if its still tight, the heater pad itself has probably checked out.
If its not the relay, and you want to save some $$, replace the drivers side with the P/S. 'F' the passenger :)
