Question about 2008 Mercury Sable

Rear of hood buffets in wind

At highway speeds the passenger rear of my hood bounces around. When the wind is buffeted like when behind a truck the movement is over 1". The dealer can find nothing.

Thanks for the reply. I did look at the exposed portion of the hinge. I could not see anything or feel any play. The car only has 2,000 miles on it. Maybe the hood is just week along the back edge?

Unfortunately the car's Japanese not German...ahem.
We find with our RX that if you fully open it, and then slide it about an inch forward it stops the buffeting. Another alternative is open a window slightly.

Where is the speed sensor located on the truck

The vehicle speed sensor for the speedometer is in the rear axle housing.
The engine speed sensor is behind the passenger side cylinder head, I believe, and is kind of a pain to replace. It sticks into the bell housing of the transmission and reads the speed of the flywheel.
I had to replace both of these sensors on my 99 ram with the 318 V8.

The car is hard to control in the highway constantly steering

Your engine and transmission mounts need inspection. Replace as necessary.
Jack up your car and support it on jack-stands.
Rotate the front-wheels and pull it towards your chest to feel the condition of the wheel bearings.
Do the same for the rear-wheels.
As for rear bouncing around corner: your rear-shocks need to check.
Last resort is to do frame inspection.

Terrible wind buffeting noise with rear windows-both Buick and dealership insist we pay for the fix as described in #PIT4355B as "helicopter type" noise. Unbelievable. Sounds like tire is falling off the...

Here's the info from GM:

Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment of a helicopter type noise when a rear window is lowered. This is known as buffeting and it is a low frequency, high volume wind noise that may occur in a moving vehicle with a rear window open.

Recommendation/Instructions:
This is a normal characteristic of this vehicle, but the concern can be minimized by lowering a front door glass approximately 1 to 2 inches. Installation of accessory weather deflectors along the front door glass may also be effective in alleviating the buffeting noise. Seems to me there's nothing to pay for with this info. This is common in alot of vehicles I've dealt with in my career. I'd say if the dealer wanted you to pay for them to tell you that, maybe you should find help somewhere else.
The Enclave is a really nice vehicle. Don't let poor customer service from a dealer discourage you from enjoying your car.

Wind Buffeting on 2010 Toyota Camry

that is just the way the car is built, the newer cars with the aerodynamics set the way they are will have a buffering sound if only front or only rear windows are open, like you said the only way to negate that noise is to open the front windows a crack, its a characteristic of the vehicle, many new cars do that.
